It is evident from table one below one third (32.5) of the mother of under five children are 20-29 and 30-39. Followed by 7(17.5%) of mothers of under five children belongs to below 19 yrs and 40 and above. Two fifth of mothers of under five children are 16(40%) are belongs to illiterate followed by primary 8(20%) ,secondary and PUC 7(17%) degree and above 2(5%) . More than half of the mothers were house wife 24(60%) and two fifth of mothers were working women 16(40%). More than one third of the sample were having family size of four members,14(35%)followed by 5 members10(25%),six members8(20%).three members 10% and had 7 and above 3(7.5%).only 2.56%of sample were having 2 members in there families and none of them having one members in the families. Half of members had 2children (50%) followed by one child 13(32.5%) three children 5(12.5%) and four and above 2(5%) Two fifth of the sample were responded that they take there children for treatment to the indigenous system 60(40%), followed by PHC 15(37.5%) and hospital 9(22.5%). Nearly half of the sample houses were semipucca18 (45%), 12(30%) were living in kacha by 10(25%) in pucca. Half of the families were earning monthly family income less than thousand followed by Rs.1001-3000, 15(37.5%), Rs.3001-5000, 5(12.5%).none of the families of sample were having Rs.5001 to 7000 and Rs.7001 and above. Nearly three fifth of the mothers have got information from elders 23(57.5%), one third of the mothers got information from colleges 13(32.5%) and only 4(10%) from AV aids. Three fourth of the sample were having exposure with ARI children and given care to them 28(70%) and 12(30%) are not having exposure with ARI children.

Table 1 described knowledge of sample regarding anatomy and physiology of respiratory system. Nearly two third of respondents responded the organ of respiratory system is lungs and nose, 27(67.5%). Three fourth of the 50(75%) of the respondents mentioned the function of lungs is respiration. 11(87.5%) of respondents of responded the meaning of inspiration is inhaling the air and above one third of the sample 14(35%) responded the exhalation is meant by exhaling the air. Majority of the sample revealed that oxygen is needed for life,35(87.5%). Three fourth of the under five children 31(77.5%) revealed that carbon dioxide is coming out from our body during respiration.

More than three fifth mothers of under five children 25(62.5) answered trhe meaning of ARTI is infection of respiratory organs. Below one fifth of mothers were responded that factors influencing ARTI is malnutrition and overcrowding, 6(15%). Nearly three fifth mothers of under five children answered that sources of ARTI is polluted air, 23(57.5%) Three fifth mothers of under five children 24(60%) responded that common symptom of ARTI is persistent fever and cold. Nearly half of the mothers of under five children 19(47.5%) answered ARTI is classified as URTI and LRTI. One fifth of the sample 8(20%) answered pneumonia is one of the LRTI and common cold is one of the URTI.

More than 2/5th of mothers of underfive children mentioned about the sign and symptoms of tonsillitis were fever, chills, sore throat 7 (42.5%).

Around 1/4th of the mothers of underfive children responded that dyspnoea is the main symptoms of bronchitis 10 (25%). 1/3rd of mothers of underfive children were answered that management of bronchitis are steam inhalation, increased fluid intake 13 (32.5%).
