10 Amazing Health Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar and Honey March 26, 2015 Food & Nutrition Apple cider vinegar (ACV) and honey are two amazing natural substances. When you consume them in their unprocessed, raw forms, the health benefits abound. If you put the two together, the results become even more positive. In addition, the use of sweet honey makes the taste of the drink more pleasing.

Fight joint pain, inflammation, digestive problems and sore throat in a natural way by consuming a concoction of ACV and honey on an empty stomach, and observe for yourself the great offerings of nature.

Health benefits of ACV and honey mix

Raw honey and ACV are both praised for their abilities to ward off infections and treat different conditions that have an impact on your quality of life. If you consume them together, you’re likely to experience the following benefits:

Better joint health and joint pain alleviation (good for arthritic pain) Acid reflux and heartburn relief Improved digestive health, including help with constipation Weight loss Reduced cholesterol levels and lower blood pressure Sore throat relief More energy Youthful appearance and better condition of the skin Remedy for bad breath Reducing inflammation Why is the combination so successful?

The overwhelming benefits of the mixture can be explained by looking at their chemical properties and interactions with the body. Many experts believe that we become ill when our bodies turn overly acidic (pH below 7). Vinegar is naturally acidic, but when consumed, it turns alkaline. Honey, too, has a low pH, but raises the alkalinity of the body once eaten.

The two substances are a perfect way to get rid of excessive acidity (resulting from stressful lifestyle and unhealthy foods and drinks) and building an internal environment with a protective pH. Our bodies function at their best and healthiest when the body’s pH is between 7.0 and 7.4, so slightly alkaline.

Further reading: read more about the body’s pH in my articles How to Balance Your pH and Find Out If You’re Too Acidic and 5 Things to Avoid If You Want to Get Your Body Alkaline.

How to make ACV & honey healing drink

Make sure you get the ingredients that are unfiltered and in their natural forms. Honey and ACV that have not been processed, thus have maintained all their nutritional properties, appear cloudy. Also, check the label and go for ACV with the ‘mother of vinegar’, which can be seen as a pulp on the bottom of the bottle.

Mix together:

1 teaspoon raw honey 1 teaspoon ACV (if you can tolerate the taste, increase the dosage to up to 1 tablespoon) 8 oz. warm water (1 glass) You might initially struggle with the potent taste, but once you experience the benefits, you’ll most likely want to stick with the concoction.

When to drink it?

It’s best to drink the mixture on an empty stomach, first thing in the morning. Consume it about 2030 minutes before you eat. Be consistent and drink it on a daily basis.

Some suggest increasing the intake to two, or even three, times a day, depending on your needs and tolerance for taste. As with many other natural remedies, it is best to test it for yourself and see what works for your body, although high consumption of ACV may cause low potassium levels and lowers bone density. Also ACV may interact with diuretics, laxatives, and medicines for diabetes and heart disease, so if you’re planning to use it on a daily basis make sure to consult your doctor to avoid interactions with the medicines you’re taking.

How to Treat Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) Naturally January 8, 2014 Health Urinary tract infections (UTI) are a burden that millions of people are forced to deal with every year. Though men can develop them, urinary tract infections are much more common in women. It is one of the most prevalent type of infection for women to contract and there are many different ways it can originate. The first thing you should do if you think you might be affected by this common ailment is check for symptoms. Symptoms

The following clues are tell-tale signs that you may have contracted a UTI:

A painful burning sensation when you are urinating High temperature and fever You’ll notice you feel the urge to use the bathroom more often but when you go, very little comes out Bits of blood in your urine Your urine looks dark and dehydrated Discomfort in the abs and pelvis An odd smell from your urine It is important to note that it is best to treat UTI as soon as you notice the signs of it and that UTI that last longer than two days requires medical intervention. This is because untreated UTI can infect

the kidneys and turn into a much more serious problem. There are several types of UTI and if it is serious enough you may need to be put on prescription medication.

Take the Natural Path

Chances are you don’t have to jump right to over the counter methods or use any type of pills to treat yourself if it is in its early stages. Most urinary tract infections can easily be treated with natural methods. The ones listed below are surprisingly effective ways to alleviate your UTI symptoms:

Increasing Your Water Intake

Making sure you have an ample amount of fluid in your system is important when you contract an infection in your urinary tract. Keeping hydrated will help your immune system detox the infected area much quicker. Steer clear of drinks that contain caffeine, alcohol, and high amounts of sugar, as they will contribute to dehydration.

D-Mannose

D-Mannose is a naturally occurring sugar that’s closely related to glucose. It is a naturally occurring sugar that is found in a number of fruits, including apples, blueberries, and cranberries.

D-mannose attaches to E. coli bacteria, causing them to stick to each other and preventing them from sticking to the walls of the urinary tract. The bacteria can then easily be eliminated from the body during urination.

D-mannose powder was found to significantly reduce the risk of recurrent UTI in a study conducted by the department of medical biochemistry, Zabok General Hospital, Croatia. In the study, 308 women with a history of recurrent UTIs, were treated with either two grams of D-mannose powder in 200 ml of water, 50 milligrams of an antibiotic, or no treatment daily for six months.

Only 15 percent of those taking the D-mannose had a recurrent UTI compared to 20 percent for the antibiotic group (both of which were significantly lower than the no-treatment group). However, the incidence of side effects was significantly lower in the D-mannose group than the antibiotics group.

Baking Soda and Water

This may not be the most appealing option when it comes to taste but it could certainly be worse. Mixing about a teaspoon of baking soda with a glass of water will contribute in eliminating the acidity present in your urinary tract.

Pineapples

The enzyme in pineapples called bromelain has been tested and proven to yield significant results in treating UTI. The anti-inflammatory functions of this tasty fruit help treat symptoms much quicker when combined with other methods. Read more about pineapples in my article how to use pineapple as a medicine.

Cranberries and Blueberries

If pineapples aren’t your favorite, these two types of berries are also potent infection fighters that you can easily incorporate into your diet. Whether they are in fruit or juice form, they are loaded with bacteria fighting ingredients and anti-oxidants that contribute to healthy bladder function. If you consume it in a juice form, make sure it has a high content of fruit and the minimum amount of sugar possible. To learn more about the amazing healing properties of cranberries and blueberries, as well as other berries, have a look at my e-book The Healing Berry Guide. This e-book will teach you how to transform your health with berries.

Vitamin C

Getting the right amount of vitamin C in your diet is essential to many different bodily functions. Doctors have noticed that the powerhouse vitamin is especially good at acidifying your urine and preventing bacteria from developing in it.

Yogurt

Yogurt is kind of like the unsung hero of UTI treatments. Not many people have caught on to its effective infection fighting properties. The healthy bacteria in it play a big role in treating UTI. Just make sure you avoid flavored ones that are loaded with sugar. Use plain unsweetened yogurt.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Many people that have struggled with UTI have flocked to this method of natural treatment. The enzymes present in apple cider vinegar thwart the growth of bacteria and prevent future issues from developing in the bladder. Try consuming 2-3 tablespoons a day mixed with a tall glass of water for the best results. You can find here 10 uses for apple cider vinegar.

Horseradish

Horseradish is a medicinal plant that is making its revival as a powerful herbal medicine. When treating certain conditions, horseradish is just as effective as chemically-synthesized antibiotics and it can sometimes even be superior to over-the-counter drugs. One of these conditions is urinary tract infection. It stimulates the flow of urine and can be safely used over a longer period of time. Read my detailed article about horseradish including how to consume it and recipes to clear UTI.

Grapefruit seed extract (GSE)

GSE comes from the rind and seeds of the grapefruit. Maryland Medical Center recommends to take 100 mg capsule of GSE or 5 – 10 drops (in favorite beverage) 3 times daily, for antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral activity. Grapefruit may interact with a wide variety of medications, so speak with your doctor before taking it.

Preventing Future Issues

One of the worst things about UTI is its persistence. Once you get rid of one, it isn’t uncommon to contract another infection within a matter of weeks. There are a few things you can do to ensure you live an infection free life:

– Stay hydrated throughout the day, drinking plenty of water or herbal teas – Focus on a balanced diet consisting of nutritionally dense foods – Urinate immediately after having sexual intercourse – Wipe from the front to the back after going to the bathroom – Never hold in urine for prolonged periods of time – Take a shower instead of a bath that can provide a breeding ground for infection and avoid over cleaning the area

Another very common infection among women is vaginal yeast infection. If you are on of the many women who suffers from it, have a look at this article to see what you can do:

Simple and Effective Natural Cures for Toenail Fungus May 12, 2013 Health Toenail fungus is a very common disease of the foot nails. Nail infection may affect toenails or fingernails, but toenail infections are particularly common. Some of the causes for this problem are sweating heavily, being in a humid environment, psoriasis and wearing socks and shoes that prevent ventilation and don’t absorb perspiration.

Another common causes are going barefoot in damp public places such as swimming pools, gyms and shower rooms, having athlete’s foot, minor skin or nail injury, damaged nail or other infection, having diabetes or circulation problems and a weakened immune system. When the toenail is infected, the most common symptom is that the nail becomes thickened and discolored, and as the infection progresses the nail can become brittle. If left untreated, the skin underneath and around the nail can become inflamed and painful. An infection with nail fungus may be difficult to treat and it may recur, but here I would like to share with you simple and natural cures for toenail fungus:

1. Apple Cider Vinegar and Hydrogen Peroxide

Vinegar cure for toenail fungus is very popular. It is recommended to soak the feet in vinegar and water for at least 30 minutes, twice a day or more in order to help kill the fungus. It is explained that the acidity of vinegar restores pH balance of nails and helps in soothing the discomfort caused due to toenail fungus. Though most types of vinegar can be used in toenail fungus treatment, the recommendation is to use apple cider vinegar as it is known to be the most effective. You can also soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and apply it directly to the nail, but ensure that vinegar stays on your nails for a significant amount of time. Apple cider vinegar is the most commonly used solution for curing fungal infections. It is a strong astringent and has anti-fungal properties. It is also known to reduce inflammation and pain linked with some stages of fungal infections. It is also recommended to combine vinegar with hydrogen peroxide to form an even more effective solution in wiping out bacteria and viruses. Soak toes or fingers in a 50/50 solution of 3% hydrogen peroxide and vinegar every day and fungus will be history in no time. Find here more information on how apple cider vinegar can revolutionize your health.

2. Tea Tree Essential Oil

Recent controlled trials using tea tree oil show promising opportunity for people suffering from stubborn toenail infections. This is one of the few problems that uses 100% tea tree oil for maximum results. After several months of testing, doctors found that tea tree oil was on par with the results seen after using standard topical antifungal treatments. Why use medical treatments with mystery ingredients when there is an all natural alternative that is just as effective? Paint the oil on the affected nails twice a day for at least two months. The nail has to grow out for the fungus to be eradicated, so you may not see results for a several months. You can find here more medicinal uses for tea tree oil or if you are interested to learn more about essential oils you can find useful information in my e-book Magical Aromatherapy. This e-book will help you to discover the power of essential oils and the most effective ways to use them.

3. Baking Soda

Then rinse the paste off and pat the nail dry. Repeat this treatment twice a day until the fungus dies (it can take up to 2 weeks). The nail may fall off, but this is normal when treating nail fungus, and a new, healthy toenail should be growing instead. Find here more uses for baking soda as a kitchen medicine.

How to Make Apple Cider Vinegar Detox Drinks October 17, 2014 Food & Nutrition Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is very versatile and has many all-natural uses in food, household cleaning and health. Many health enthusiasts praise the healing properties of ACV to cure almost everything. I’ve already written at the past about the versatility of ACV in in my previous articles about the 10 Uses for Apple Cider Vinegar for Great Health and At Home and 11 Ways Apple Cider Vinegar Can Revolutionize Your Health.

In this article I am to explain specifically on how to use ACV to cleanse and detox and I am going to share with you ACV detox drinks

The Cleansing Properties of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)

ACV has great cleansing properties due to its rich content of minerals, vitamins and enzymes. It helps the body to remove toxic waste more efficiently before it has time to accumulate and damage the body. It is known to aid digestion and improve bowel movement. It also helps to detoxify the liver, purify the blood and improve circulation due to its powerful enzymes that break down bad cholesterol and prevent it from clogging your arteries.

ACV also helps in maintaining a healthy alkaline pH level to prevent inflammatory processes in the body that are associated with high acidic level in the body (you can read more about this subject in my article on How to Balance Your pH and Find Out If You’re Too Acidic). It helps to break up mucus

and cleanse the lymph nodes and improve lymph circulation which in turn helps to improve your immune system.

There are also claims that ACV helps in weight loss in a subtle way, and while ACV is no weight loss miracle on its own, it can still help you on the way. It speeds up metabolism, helps to break down fats instead of storing them,. It is rich in pectin that helps you feel fuller, and the acetic acid suppresses your appetite and reduces water retention. So combining ACV with exercise and a proper nutrition can help in weight management too.

Which Type of ACV to Use

Choosing the right type of ACV is very important if you want to get the best results. Real ACV is made by fermenting pressed apple juice until the natural sugar turns into vinegar. Always choose organic ACV which is unfiltered, unpasteurized, and unprocessed and not the clear and refined stuff you find in most stores. If you really want to use a good quality ACV, it needs to have the “mother” of vinegar, which is the cloudy matter that floats or often sinks to the bottom of the bottle. This substance contains beneficial enzymes, bacteria and trace minerals that make ACV so beneficial for you. Also don’t forget to shake the bottle each time before using the ACV to distribute the good elements. You can also easily make your own natural ACV – find the recipe here.

How to Use Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) for Detox 1. Internal Use ACV is very acidic so don’t drink it undiluted as it could harm your tooth enamel and your esophagus (although when we take ACV internally, it has an alkaline effect in our body). The fact that ACV alkalize the body could play a major role in its healing properties as mentioned previously. Don’t use a lot of ACV – dilute 1 to 2 tablespoons in a large glass of water, and drink it along with your meals once or twice a day. Consuming ACV in (normal) food amounts is likely safe, but in some cases consuming a big amount of ACV is not recommended. Consuming large amount of ACV on a daily basis for a long-term might lead to problems such as low potassium levels and lower bone density. Also ACV may interact with certain medications, such as diuretics, medicines for diabetes and heart disease, so if you take medications and intend to use ACV on a daily basis for a long term, make sure to consult your doctor first. 2. Detox Bath Your skin is the largest organ in your body and plays a major role in detoxifying your body. While not everyone likes a steam room or has access to it, your body cleansing can start in the comfort of your

own bathroom. While the smell of ACV can be off-putting, the benefits of using ACV for the skin are abundant (and you can always add a few drops of your favorite essential oil for a better scent). Add one cup of raw ACV to your bath and soak for at least 20 minutes. ACV is great for softening the skin and rebalancing your skin’s pH. It’s also an effective treatment if you’re suffering from a fungal or bacterial infection or skin irritations, due to its antifungal and antimicrobial properties. You can do this detoxification bath twice a week and you can also find here more great cleansing and rejuvenating detox baths. 3. Face Wash Using ACV as a face wash helps to treat age spots, acne and pimples. You can refer to my previous article on Why You Should Wash Your Face With ACV to get the full details including instructions on how to use ACV to cleanse your skin. ACV Detox Drinks Lemon Water with ACV I’ve already written in the past about the health benefits of drinking lemon water for digestion, weight management as well as other merits. This drink also contains cinnamon, which in addition to its many other benefits, it also metabolizes glucose to prevent fat storage and helps food digestion in a way that makes you feel fuller for longer. Cayenne pepper increases your temperature (thermogenesis) and as a result your body works to cool it down. In this process your body needs to burn more calories as it cools, so it helps in weight management too. Ingredients: 1 glass of water 1 Tbsp. quality ACV 1 Tbsp. lemon juice 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon 1 pinch cayenne pepper (optional) Honey to taste (or other natural sweetener like raw maple syrup or stevia) Stir well all the ingredients and drink right away.

Cranberry ACV Detox Drink Raw cranberry juice and water help to cleanse the kidneys, the liver, the bowels and the lymphatic system from harmful toxins. Cranberries contain multiple substances that help to remove fat from the lymphatic system, as one of the functions of the lymphatic system is the absorption of fats from the digestive system and transporting them to the blood circulation. When you buy cranberry juice, look for pure unsweetened and organic juice (many of the stuff found in most supermarkets is

loaded with sugar or artificial sweeteners). You can find more information about the healing powers of cranberries and other berries in my e-book The Healing Berry Guide which will teach you how to transform your health with berries and is a must for berry lovers.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup pure cranberry juice 1 Tbsp. quality ACV 1 Tbsp. lemon juice Water to dilute Honey to taste

Combine the water with the rest of the ingredients. You can dilute it as strong or as weak as you prefer.

Green Tea ACV Drink for Weight Loss

Green tea is known for boosting your metabolism and helps to burn fat faster. According to Livestrong website, the combination of the medicinal and metabolic properties of green tea, ACV and honey creates a mixture that can help to manage your weight while suppressing your appetite as well. Don’t expect this mixture to be a weight loss miracle on its own, but it may be helpful for weight loss. When you add the ACV to the green tea, make sure the green tea has cooled down and is not boiling hot as not to destroy the active culture in the ACV.

Ingredients:

1 cup green tea 1 Tbsp. quality ACV Honey to taste

Prepare 1 cup of freshly brewed green tea with honey. Wait for the green tea and honey mixture to cool down before adding the ACV.

If you want to find helpful information about the concept of detox, have a look at my e-book The Detox Guide which will teach you how to cleanse and energize your body naturally and safely. How To Use Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) For Weight Loss March 5, 2015 Food & Nutrition Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is a cherished natural remedy, used by many as a preventative and curative measure. It also holds an important place in the dieting world – scientific studies, as well as practical experiences, show that ACV can help you lose weight. Vinegar is one of those substances that target the problem holistically, and it provides you with long-term solutions. This article will help you understand how ACV works and how to use ACV as part of your daily diet to get the best results.

What Does ACV Do To Make You Lose Weight?

ACV taps into several physiological mechanisms that support healthy weight loss:

1. ACV acts as an appetite suppressor

ACV makes you eat less by producing a feeling of satiety sooner. One research that proved that empirically was a 2005 study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Subjects who ate bread with vinegar felt significantly fuller than their counterparts who were fed only bread. The more acetic acid (the primary constituent of vinegar) the participants ingested, the fuller they were.

2. ACV controls blood sugar levels

ACV prevents uncontrollable sugar spikes and crashes that make you want to nibble between meals. When your blood sugar is stable, it’s much easier to stick to your diet and eat only when your body needs it.

The previously mentioned study also measured blood sugar levels in the vinegar-fed and control group. Participants who were given ACV had significantly lower post-meal blood glucose levels (there was no spike that usually follows a meal high in carbohydrates). Furthermore, those who consumed a higher dose of vinegar, benefited from the effect even 90 minutes after eating.

You can get more information on how to naturally control blood sugar in my articles about the best foods to control diabetes, and 7 effective steps to prevent diabetes.

3. ACV prevents fat accumulation

ACV stimulates your metabolism and makes you burn fat faster. It contains a lot of organic acids and enzymes that speed up your metabolism and increase the rate at which body fat is burnt.

There aren’t many human studies that would support this explanation. A Japanese study published in 2009 was observing the effects of acetic acid on rats that were fed a diet high in fats. The scientist concluded that the consumption of acetic acid suppressed fat accumulation. ACV can also help you to reduce cholesterol.

4. ACV has an impact on insulin secretion

Insulin affects fat storage. This hormone is closely linked to blood sugar levels and its secretion is disturbed in people suffering from type 2 diabetes. Scientist suggested that ACV might work in a similar way to some diabetic drugs and could have a potential in controlling diabetes. If you suffer from type 2 diabetes, make sure to consume these foods and these spices.

5. ACV detoxifies the body

When our body gets rid of toxins, all the processes (including digestion and metabolism) become more efficient. ACV flushes the body and helps it use the nutrients from food in the best way possible. It is high in fiber that absorb toxins and improve bowel movement. You can find extremely detailed information on how to detox your body with ACV in my post on how to make ACV detox drinks.

How To Use ACV For Weight Loss

If you are not used to the taste and effects of ACV, you might want to include it into your diet gradually.

Start by adding 1 teaspoon of ACV to a cup of water and drink it once a day. Then, increase the amount of vinegar per serving, and the frequency of drinking. Ideally, you should add 2 tablespoons of vinegar to a cup of water and drink it one to three times a day. To kick start the metabolism and influence the feeling of fullness, it’s best to drink it about an hour before your meal. As an addition to your pre-meal serving, some also suggest drinking it first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach. ACV is very acidic, so you need to dilute it to protect your teeth, throat and the lining of your stomach. Don’t drink undiluted ACV.

Buy organic ACV with the ‘mother of vinegar’ to enjoy the full health benefits. You can also easily make your own ACV at home.

How To Increase Your Consumption Of ACV

Some find the taste of vinegar difficult to stomach. To improve the flavor, you can add a bit of honey to your vinegar serving. Or, you can drink it with your tea. Wait for the tea to cool a bit before adding two tablespoons of ACV and drink.

You can also have vinegar with your meal. It goes very well with some soups or you can use it as a refreshing salad dressing.

Why Is ACV Better To Use Than Other Vinegars?

ACV is seen as a superior choice due to its all-encompassing health benefits. It cleanses the body and acts in an anti-microbial way. Not only does it help with weight loss, it also has a positive effect on some other conditions. ACV can help with diabetes, cancer, heart health, high cholesterol, free radical damage, digestion and acid reflux. You can find more detailed information on how to improve your health with ACV in my articles about the 11 ways ACV can revolutionize tour health and in my popular article on how to use ACV for great health.

What To Expect When Taking ACV For Weight Loss?

ACV will not provide you with a quick weight loss. The changes will be gradual, but permanent. Don’t be impatient and allow it some time. Sometimes losing just one pound a month and not re-gaining it afterwards, can be the real success.

How fast you’ll lose weight, depends on other factors as well, such as your exercise, nutrition, stress and genetic factors. For best and fastest effects, you need to combine this natural product with other techniques for losing weight, so the function of vinegar gets supported with lifestyle changes.

Teeth Whitening Take any toothpaste tube and see what most brands include in the content. That’s right – baking soda. If combined with peroxide it provides a whitening effect. Use it instead of toothpaste. The only drawback is that if it is used too often it can damage your enamel. If used once a week, it is harmless and perfectly removes stains and plaques without wearing enamel away.

70-Year-Old Looks 30, Reveals Fountain of Youth October 22, 2014 Food & Nutrition, News 27 years ago, Annette Larkins decided to become a raw vegan. She was already enjoying a vegetarian diet at the time, but decided to take it a step further. Her main motive was to improve

and maintain her health. What she got in return surpassed her expectations and made her a star of the raw vegan community. Watch the video below to hear her full story:

Mrs. Larkins grows her own fruits and vegetables, and collects rain water for drinking and watering the plants. Her back garden is used as a food factory – she eats everything that grows there.

She lives on a diet of raw fruits and vegetables, seeds, nuts and juices. She does a lot of sprouting and makes her own wheatgrass juice, which is renowned for its health benefits. It might seem like a full time job, but it certainly pays off.

Annette looks amazing and when you look at her, you would think she is in her thirties. But in fact, she is a grandmother, has children who are in their fifties, and she’s seventy herself! This lady has discovered a fountain of youth, and it comes in the form of her healthy diet and life style. She doesn’t take any medication, not even an aspirin, and swears by natural medicines. Her husband, Amos Larkins, regrets not adopting the raw diet himself. His health is failing him, and people often think he’s out with his granddaughter when he walks around with his youthful wife.

What’s more, Annette’s genetic predisposition was not favorable at all. Her mother and grandmother both died of breast cancer at a young age (they were 47, and 36 years old, respectively). Her grandmother’s sisters died of cancer prematurely, too. Moreover, diabetes runs in her family. The argument that Annette must have had good genes does not apply. So that is why this proactive lady decided to take things into her own hands. She changed her life drastically and now she’s reaping the rewards.

Not only does Annette looks like a natural beauty queen, she also describes the abundance of energy she’s been experiencing since going raw. She’s up at 5.30 every morning and leads an active and creative life style. She speaks 3 languages and has an extensive library, so her days are often

spent studying. She’s written a booklet to help others follow in her foot steps and has featured in TV shows and documentaries.

Raw food has been validated many times for its health and well-being effects. It consists of fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and seeds that have not been brought to a temperature above 104 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit (40 to 49 degrees Celsius). Raw vegans reason that the heating process kills enzymes and drastically reduces food’s nutrient content. To prepare raw food you usually need to have a blender, food processor, juicer and dehydrator. Preparing tasty meals can become very easy and contrary to what many people believe, raw vegans don’t need to consume just salads.

Mrs. Larkins is certainly an inspiration in many ways. Just looking and listening to her can make you consider changing your diet. And when you do that, you’ll have your own experience to trust.

Depending on the cause and severity of sciatica, some yoga poses can help relieve and heal sciatic nerve pain.

Find The Cause Of Sciatica First It’s important to get to the root of the problem. Sciatic pain is just a symptom – there is an underlying disorder that needs to be identified. You might need to seek advice from your doctor first and get a proper diagnosis before proceeding. The two most common scenarios behind sciatica include: 1. A herniated disc – the excruciating pain is caused by a bulging or ruptured disc that pinches or irritates the nearby nerve. 2. Piriformis syndrome – this is a rare type of sciatica caused by irritation to the sciatic nerve by a muscle in the buttock called the piriformis. The piriformis can push the sciatic nerve against the tendons beneath it, which results in the familiar buttock and leg pain. I wrote a number of extremely popular articles on how to outsmart sciatic pain and about the top 8 natural treatments for sciatic pain. This time I want to show you how yoga can help you with sciatic pain.

How Can Yoga Help With Sciatica? If a herniated disc is the cause of your pain, you need to be very careful not to aggravate the condition and make it worse. Professional guidance is recommended when designing your exercise program. In some cases, yoga can help you manage the situation and can even reduce the herniation. The practice needs to progress from gentle poses to basic foundational asanas (yoga postures). Certain poses can align, strengthen and lengthen your lower back and offer gradual improvement. If the culprit is a tight piriformis muscle, you need to work on stretching it. Again, be gentle and progress slowly. You don’t want to overwork piriformis and worsen the pain. What follows is a selection of yoga poses that target the piriformis and can help you relieve sciatic pain. Reclining big toe pose – Supta Padangusthasana 

Use an elastic strap to do this stretch and place it around the ball of your right foot.

Straighten the right leg towards the ceiling while holding the strap.

Stretch the right leg upwards and keep the foot flexed. As you do this, both sides of your butt should be pressed against the floor.

Hold for 10 breaths.

Lower the right leg slowly by first bending the right knee towards your chest and then placing the leg on the floor.

Repeat on the left side. Formatted: Font: (Default) Arial, 10 pt, Font color: Dark Teal, Border: : (No border)

Staff pose – Dandasana This is the basic seated pose. 

Sit with your legs outstretched and your palms touching the floor by the sides of your body.

Flex your feet back, so you give your legs a good stretch.

Sit straight and make your spine long, as if you were pulled up by a string.

Beginners can put some padding under the buttocks.

Formatted: Font: (Default) Arial, 10 pt, Font color: Dark Teal, Border: : (No border)

King pigeon pose – Eka Pada Rajakapotasana This is the strongest of the piriformis stretches. 

Start on your hands and knees or from the ‘downward facing dog’ pose.

Bring your right knee forward and out and put your right foot in line with the left hip. Your shin should be at 45o

Release your left leg on the floor behind you and slowly slide it back while bringing your body forwards. When you reach the final position, the left toes are pressing down into the mat.

Hold for a few breaths.

Repeat on the left side.

If you find the position too challenging, you can use a table to support yourself. Place your right leg up on a table, with the knee out and right foot in line with the left hip. Place your hands on the table for support and lean forward. Walk your left foot back. Formatted: Font: (Default) Arial, 10 pt, Font color: Dark Teal, Border: : (No border)

Standing twist 

Place a chair against the wall.

Stand with your right hip next to the wall, so you face the chair.

Put your right foot on the chair and keep your knee bent.

Your standing leg should be straight and you can press your right hand against the wall for balance.

Lift your left heel up and turn your body towards the wall. Use hands for support.

Exhale, and lower your heel to the floor, but maintain the twist for a few breaths.

Return to the starting position.

Repeat the same on the left side.

Formatted: Font: (Default) Arial, 10 pt, Font color: Dark Teal, Border: : (No border)

Preparation for spinal twist 

Sit with your knees bent and your feet on the floor in front of you.

Bring your right foot around and place it outside of your left hip.

Your left foot should be on the floor, either on the inside or outside of you right knee (depending on your mobility and intensity of the stretch).

Make sure that the weight is evenly distributed across your buttocks.

Hold your left knee with your hands and hold the position for several breaths.

Repeat on the other side. Formatted: Font: (Default) Arial, 10 pt, Font color: Dark Teal, Border: : (No border)

Simple Seated Twist 

Start with the preparation pose.

Turn the body towards the upward knee.

Place your left hand behind you and complete the full turn whilst holding the left knee with your right hand.

Don’t go to deeply into the twist or you risk worsening the piriformis syndrome.

Repeat the twist on the other side.

Formatted: Font: (Default) Arial, 10 pt, Font color: Dark Teal, Border: : (No border)

Cow’s face pose – Gomukhasana This is a passive stretch. 

Sit on the floor upright and extend your legs forward as you do for the ‘staff pose’.

Bend your right knee and bring your right leg across the left leg.

Bring your right foot close to your outer left hip.

Move your left foot across the midline, so it’s slightly diagonal to the body.

Your right hand is on the floor and your left hand is holding the right foot. Your right knee is above your left.

Keep your spine extended as you hold the position for a few breaths.

Repeat the same on the other side. Formatted: Font: (Default) Arial, 10 pt, Font color: Dark Teal, Border: : (No border)

Sciatica is discomfort and/or pain caused by irritation of the sciatic nerve, which runs bilaterally from the base of the spine, through the buttocks and down the back of each leg. The sensations associated with sciatica can vary, including weakness, numbness, tingling, burning, and moderate to extreme pain. Often the symptoms are present on only one side of the back or leg since there is a nerve in each leg. There are many scenarios that can cause sciatic pain, two of the most common beingherniated discs and piriformis syndrome. Yoga may not be an appropriate treatment for some causes of sciatica, so be sure to seek diagnosis from a doctor before preceeding. If your sciatic nerve is being aggravated by a tight piriformis, yoga can help. There are also several yoga positions that are used by physical therapists to relieve the pain of sciaticacaused by herniated discs. Hamstring stretches are also recommended in some cases.

Phlegm often accompanies colds and other upper respiratory infections. While not a serious health problem, if phlegm is not treated timely, it can clog and irritate the bronchial tubes and in turn cause a secondary upper respiratory infection. The presence of phlegm is usually indicated by a constant need for throat clearing, constant cough, runny nose, difficulty breathing, feeling weak and, in some cases, fever. Phlegm tends to collect and congest in the chest and throat and is usually expelled through coughing. Phlegm contains the bacteria, virus or inflammatory cells produced in response to an infection. In addition to infections such as the common cold, flu and bronchitis, phlegm can be caused by anallergic reaction to irritants such as in asthma and hay fever, damaged vocal cords, and excessive smoking. Sponsored links Dealing with phlegm can be incredibly frustrating and seemingly never ending. But there are effective, natural home remedies that work quickly and without causing side effects.

Formatted: Font: (Default) Arial, 12 pt, Font color: Custom Color(RGB(32,193,11))

Here are the top 10 home remedies for phlegm.

1. Steam Steam inhalation is the best and the simplest way to get rid of phlegm. Inhaling steam into the nasal passages helps keep phlegm in liquid form so it is easier to eliminate from your system. 

Take a steam shower twice daily. Turn your shower to full heat and stay in the closed bathroom for 10 minutes to help break up the mucus. Be sure to moisturize your body after, as warm water robs your skin of essential oils and moisture.

Alternatively, pour hot boiling water in a large bowl. Hold a towel over your head and inhale the steam for five to 10 minutes. This will help loosen the secretions in your lungs. You can use this simple remedy several times a day.

2. Salt Water Gargling with warm salt water is another easy way to treat phlegm. While warm water is soothing for an irritated throat, salt helps destroy bacteria that may be causing your infection and therefore reduces production of phlegm. 1. Mix one-fourth teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water. 2. Gargle with the solution. 3. Repeat this remedy several times a day.

3. Lemon Juice Lemon is a great ingredient for loosening mucus and phlegm. Plus, lemon’s antibacterial property and high vitamin C content improves the body’s resistance to infections. Formatted: Font: (Default) Arial, 12 pt, Font color: Custom Color(RGB(32,193,11))

Add two teaspoons of lemon juice and one tablespoon of honey to a glass of hot water. Drink this at least three times a day to soothe your throat and reduce phlegm production.

Another simple option is to cut a slice of lemon, sprinkle a little bit of salt and pepper on it and then suck on the lemon slice. It will help force the phlegm out of your throat. Do this two or three times a day.

4. Ginger Ginger is a natural decongestant and has been used to fight off throat and respiratory tract infectionsfor ages. Also, the antiviral, antibacterial and expectorant properties present in ginger ease congestion in the throat and chest to help you breathe easier. 

Add one tablespoon of fresh ginger slices to one cup of boiled water. Steep for a few minutes and then add two teaspoons of honey. Drink this soothing ginger tea several times throughout the day.

Alternatively, chew raw ginger slices several times a day and add ginger to your dishes.

5. Turmeric

Turmeric has strong antiseptic properties that help reduce phlegm by killing the bacteria that cause excessive mucus production. Also, turmeric helps strengthen the immune system. Formatted: Font: (Default) Arial, 12 pt, Font color: Custom Color(RGB(32,193,11))

Add one teaspoon of turmeric to a glass of hot milk. Drink it once in the morning and again before going to bed.

Swallow one-half teaspoon of turmeric with a glass of water two or three times a day.

Add one tablespoon of turmeric and a pinch of salt to a glass of hot water. Use it to gargle several times a day.

6. Chicken Soup Warm chicken soup can also help treat phlegm. Hot chicken soup will help moisturize the airways and thin the consistency of the phlegm. It will also soothe an irritated throat and induce relaxation. Have some chicken soup at least two or three times a day to clear phlegm from your throat. For increased benefits, add ginger and garlic to the soup. Homemade soup is often more effective than canned soup, which has preservatives.

7. Cayenne Pepper

Cayenne pepper helps the body release mucus built up in the nasal passages and throat. The warm and stimulating nature of cayenne pepper also helps reduce pain in your chest and soothes an irritated throat. 1. Mix the following ingredients: one-fourth teaspoon each of cayenne pepper and grated fresh ginger, one tablespoon each of honey and apple cider vinegar, and two tablespoons of water. 2. Drink this mixture two or three times a day to help reduce phlegm production.

Note: Also include cayenne pepper in cooking your dishes. Sponsored links

8. Honey Formatted: Font: (Default) Arial, 12 pt, Font color: Custom Color(RGB(32,193,11))

Honey has antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal properties that make it a great home remedy for soothing an irritated throat and eliminating phlegm. Plus, it has antiseptic properties that help boost the immune system to fight off infections faster.

Add a pinch of white or black pepper powder to one tablespoon of honey. Pepper will help treat a throat infection, while the honey will soothe the mucous membranes. Have this mixture twice a day for a week.

Add one tablespoon of honey to a glass of warm water. Drink this several times a day. You’ll get the benefits from honey’s medicinal properties and the water will help thin the mucus.

9. Onion

Onion has excellent antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and expectorant properties that help relax your throat and get rid of phlegm. Also, onion helps boost the immune system and speed up the healing process. You can make a tonic with onion and sugar to increase the fluidity of the phlegm so it is easier to expel. 1. Wash and finely chop a small onion. 2. Toss the onion with two tablespoons of sugar and set it aside for half an hour. The mixture will develop a liquid texture. 3. Take one tablespoon of this tonic every two to three hours or when needed.

You can store the extra tonic in the refrigerator for one to two days. Sponsored links

10. Carrots

Formatted: Font: (Default) Arial, 12 pt, Font color: Custom Color(RGB(32,193,11))

Carrots have been found to be very effective in treating phlegm and other similar conditions. Carrots are an excellent source of vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that boosts the immune system and builds resistance to various kinds of infections. Plus, carrots are packed with many nutrients and vitamins that help reduce cough symptoms as well as phlegm. 1. Extract the juice from four to five fresh carrots. 2. Add a little water to dilute the juice. Then add two to three teaspoons of honey and mix it well. 3. Drink this juice throughout the day to clear phlegm from your throat.

Try these simple remedies the next time you are suffering from the annoying problem of phlegm. However, if you notice blood in the phlegm or you cough up phlegm that is yellow or green, consult a doctor. Resources: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/359266

How to Effectively Cleanse Your Colon With Only 2 Ingredients September 25, 2014 Food & Nutrition The colon is part of the digestive system and you probably know that there are a wide variety of benefits from having a healthy digestive system. Colon cleanse supporters believe that the main purpose of colon cleanse is to eliminate accumulations of toxins and improving the absorption of nutrients into your body. They believe that colon cleanse can help you lose excess weight, improve bowel function and improve your overall health and well-being. Other issues it can help with are relieving constipation and diarrhea, promote regular bowel movements, improve the immune system and boost your energy levels. In this article I want to introduce you to a simple colon cleanse with only 2 ingredients: kefir and ground flaxseed. Health Benefits of Kefir Kefir is a fermented drink made usually with milk and “grains” which are friendly living organisms (you can read more about the top 10 fermented foods for healthy gut here). Kefir is a complete source of protein with many essential amino acids, minerals, and valuable B vitamins. What’s good about kefir is that it contains several major strains of friendly bacteria and beneficial yeasts. These probiotic organisms help to cleanse the intestine, help balance the intestinal flora and destroy pathogens such as E-coli and parasites. Kefir helps to restore your digestive system, relieves inflammatory bowel disease and helps to boost your immune system. When you buy kefir, opt for plain certified organic kefir. Why Kefir is Better Than Yogurt? The friendly bacteria in yogurt pass through the digestive tract and provide food for the friendly bacteria in the colon. However the bacteria in kefir can colonize in the intestinal tract and attach to the colon while pushing away pathogens while traveling through your colon on the way out of your system, so it actually lives there and continues to create friendly bacteria that improves the digestive tract. While yogurt and kefir contain different types of bacteria with different tasks, kefir has much more strains of beneficial bacteria as well as good yeasts. These bacteria and yeasts provide a better nutritional value than yogurt as they help to digest the foods you eat and keep the colon clean and healthy. You can find here more information about the best foods to cleanse your colon. Is Kefir Suitable for Lactose Intolerant People? The friendly bacteria and beneficial yeast in the kefir culture consume most of the lactose in the milk. Many lactose intolerant people who consume kefir first thing in the morning before breakfast find it can be easily digested. However there are also non-dairy based kefirs, as kefir can also ferment fruit juice, coconut water, coconut milk, rice milk, almond milk, etc. Health Benefits of Flaxseed Adding flaxseed to your diet is a great way to cleanse your colon. Flaxseeds absorb water and expand in the colon, aid in the stool passage through your intestinal tract and remove toxins as they

pass through. Flaxseeds are also rich rich in ALA, one form of omega-3 fatty acids which have antiinflammatory properties, and may relieve irritable bowel syndrome. Flaxseeds, when eaten whole, are more likely to pass through the intestinal tract undigested, so the best way to use flaxseeds is to buy whole flaxseeds and grind them in a coffee grinder when you need to eat them. Don’t grind large amount as they lose potency relatively quickly. Use fresh ground flaxseeds within 24 hours of grinding them and keep them in the refrigerator. Flaxseed is one of the superfoods mentioned in my e-book about superfoods which is part of the Natural Health Revolution Program. This program will help you to achieve your health, nutrition or weight loss goals. Ground Flaxseed Vs. Flaxseed Oil In this case you should opt for ground flaxseed and not flaxseed oil. The major advantage of flaxseed oil over ground flaxseeds is that it contains larger amount of healthy omega-3 fatty acids per serving, however ground flaxseed offers a nutritional advantage over flaxseed oil because it’s lower in calories but contains more fiber. According to Livestrongwebsite, each 2-tablespoon serving of ground flaxseed contains 75 calories, and an equivalent serving of flaxseed oil offers 240 calories. A serving of ground flaxseed also contains 3.8 grams of dietary fiber, whereas flaxseed oil doesn’t contain fiber. Ground flaxseeds also have an advantage over flaxseed oil as a source of essential minerals, including magnesium and copper. How to Use The 2 Ingredient Colon Cleanse If you are new to consuming fermented foods it is best to start in small amounts to let your body and digestion get acquainted with it. You may then increase the amount eventually, being reasonable. It is also recommended to take a few days off of consuming fermented food every one week or so to allow the body to work and build immunity on its own. Start with one tablespoon of ground flaxseed mixed with about a quarter or third glass of kefir before breakfast and then again before bed (some people find it helps to first try kefir with meals, such as a little amount with breakfast). You need to make sure to drink at least eight glasses of water each day. Do it for a week or so and then skip for few days here and there to give your body a break. You can use it as an ongoing maintenance or do it periodically. If you are interested in cleansing your body, you can find more useful information in my e-book The Detox Guide. This guide will teach you how to use detox to cleanse and energize your body naturally and safely:

Successful Safe Liver Cleanse in 24 Hours – Get rid of over 1000 Liver Stones (Literally) admin April 12, 2015 Successful Safe Liver Cleanse in 24 Hours – Get rid of over 1000 Liver Stones (Literally)2015-0412T17:52:05+00:00Health, Natural Remedies No Comment

Liver cleanse improves digestion, and it is the base of good health. It works great in the treatment of allergies and also relieves pain in shoulders, upper arm, and upper back.

Most people, including children, have stones in their liver. Some even have allergies or rashes, while others show no symptoms. X-rays cannot show the stones, as they are tiny and non-calcified. Formatted: Font: (Default) inherit, 10.5 pt, Font color: Custom Color(RGB(14,171,66)), Border: : (No border)

There are many types od stones and most of them have cholesterol crystals. They can be either black, red, white, green or any darker color. The center of the stones contains bacteria remains.

Scientists explain that liver stones start forming around dead bacteria, which represents the core. Liver stones are one of the reasons why most of the cholesterol remains in the body leading to an increased cholesterol level.

The stones can accumulate custs, bacteria, parasites and viruses which go to the liver. This creates perfect condition for infections which increase the number of bacteria in the body. Abdominal infections and ulcers cannot be cured without removing the stones first.

Do not perform the liver cleansing during pregnancy or lactation, cold or any serious disease!

Ingredients: 

4 tsp Epsom salt, unrefined

1/2 cup olive oil, cold pressed

1 large or 2 small grapefruits, juiced

Choose days in which you can rest, like Saturday or Sunday , for instance. Do not take medications, supplemental vitamins or minerals the day before you do the cleasing, because they will affect the cleansing.

For breakfast and lunch eat foods that do not contain fat, like cereal and fruit, fruit juice, bread and honey. Avoid butter, milk and vegetables with salt, or chips. These foods increase the pressure in the bile duct of the liver, which provides disposing of more stones (crystallized toxins in the liver).

Schedule: 2pm At this point you should stop eating or drinking anything, because if you eat anything, you may feel pain later.

Prepare the salt. Combine 4 teaspoons of unrefined salt and 3 cups of water. Pour the mixture in a glass bottle. Keep it in the fridge until it cools enough. This step is important as it will improve its taste.

6pm Drink the first quarter of the cold saline remedy

8pm Drink the second quarter. You will still feel no hunger. Remember, you should take the dose on time, as it is essential for the success of the cleansing treatment.

9:45pm Juice the grapefruit and add in half a cup of cold pressed olive oil. Put the lid on and shake until you get a smooth consistency. Go to the bathroom before drinking the juice.

10pm Drink the grapefruit juice and if you suffer from insomnia, take some valerian. Drink it while standing for 5 minutes. Go to bed.

The sooner you lie down, the more gallstones will come out from your liver.

Lie on the back, and keep your head slightly raised, preferably on a pillow. Stay still for 20 minutes.

You may feel the sones move through the channels like marbles. You will not feel any pain, because the salt has opened your liver channels. Now you can sleep tightly.

Take the third dose next morning. If you deal with nausea, wait before you drink the saline solution. Do not take the dose before 6 am.

Take the fourth dose two hours later.

After two hours you can eat. Start with some natural fruit juice and eat some fruit after half an hour.

Eat your regular meals after an hour. Keep your foods light, and until dinner you will be fully recovered.

How successful was your cleansing? You may have diarrhea in the morning. The stones sometimes rise up to the surface of the water because of the cholesterol inside them. And yes, you can count them. You will achieve complete purification once you eliminate about 2,000 stones. Repeat the treatment after 2 weeks. Do not perform the cleansing if you are dealing with a disease or specific health condition.

Sometimes the liver channels are filled with cholesterol crystals and not stones, and they will appear on the surface in the toilet as a greenish substance.

Is the liver cleansing safe? 

Yes, the cleansing process is safe. It was introduced by Dr Hulda Clark, and it was done on about 500 people. Many of these were older than 70. None of them felt pain or went to the hospital.

You may feel weak or exhausted after the cleanse, but only for a day or two.

You have managed to remove the stones without a surgery.

This cleansing method is more than hundreds years old, and its origin is still unknown.

Note: Do not change the schedule or the recipe, because it will affect the cleansing treatment, and the liver is pretty sensitive to details.
