Dear Sir or Madam: It is a pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Allison Kask. I served as Ally’s cooperating teacher for her practicum in preschool during the spring semester of 2017. Ally’s placement was in the Full Day Four-Year-Old Class of the Young Children’s Program at James Madison University. Ally thoroughly planned and taught two lessons during her 105 hours of practicum. She read aloud a story to a group of children, intentionally selecting a book based on their interest in cooking. The children made the same cake recipe that the characters prepared in the book, engaging in a hands-on cooking experience throughout her lesson. Ally also designed a yoga lesson for our class. She introduced new postures and vocabulary to the students through a read aloud, as well as embedded self-regulation strategies into her lesson. During her time in our classroom, Ally built lasting relationships with the children and their families. She selected a child to focus on for her semester-long case study assignment. Ally observed and reflected on areas of the child’s development, collecting input from the child’s parents and myself. A few families inquired about Ally as a babysitter for their children. These requests are evidence of her ability to interact positively with children, and her level of trustworthiness. Based on my observations of Ally, I would recommend her for employment working with children. She is a thoughtful, prepared, conscientious teacher who connects positively with children, families and other staff. I believe your program would be fortunate to have Allison Kask in your midst. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any further information. Sincerely,
Donna Young Lead Teacher, Full Day Four-Year Old Class Young Children’s Program at James Madison University
