1. All of us have sinned “23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” – Romans 3:23
2. Sinners are lost, except through Christ (Sin is what makes death bad, but Christ takes away our sin and makes death powerless over us.) “50I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." 55 "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" 56The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 15:50-57
3. What must we do to take advantage of the grace offered by Jesus? We must hear the gospel… “17
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” – Romans 10:17
4. Believe that Jesus is the Son of God… “24
I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins.” – John 8:24
5. Repent of (turn away from) our sin (… it will kill us if we don’t) “1Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2Jesus answered, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? 3I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 4Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.” – Luke 13:1-5
6. Confess that Jesus is the Son of God… “32Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. 33But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.” – Matthew 10:32-33
7. Be baptized for the forgiveness of our sins… “37When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" 38
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” – Acts 2:37-38
