Cenapé

2006 october - february

+ Lodovica Acerbis

Furniture Bachelor Degree Metadesign prof. Lavizzari prof. Celi

Cenapè was designed thinking about a table for Trattoria Toscana in Milan. Cargo was the company that ordered us this new concept. Trattoria Toscana is a night club where you can have both happy hour and dinner and it’s very fashionable. In addition Cargo is a company based in Milan that works a lot with simple shapes and materials, like wood and steel. The space is continuous, with no division between areas for dinner or for happy hour. The light is soft and it’s seems like being outdoor even if you are indoor.

The main characteristic of this table is that it can easly become, from a dinner/lunch table, an happy hour one. The waiter does not have to make a big effort to change its positioning. The vertical grid is the load bearing structure and it is the joint to make the table stable. The table can be half for dinner, half for happy hour or can be double for any of these two functions. When half is not used you can use the vase.

Tzuf

2007 march - july

+ Jennifer Carew + Francesco Albani

Furniture Bachelor Degree Industrial Design 2 prof. Deserti prof. Fantoni

Tzuf is an outdoor furniture system designed for Coro. It is composed by a chair and a chaise- longue that turn around the basic module, the table. This idea was born making first of all a research about what are the user needs. In this way the movement to follow the sun rays is much easier. There is even an umbrella with adjustable blades, useful both when the user stands or sits.

The structure of the seats and of the table in made in steel and the staves are made in ribbed polyethylene, produced by injection moulding; in this way the user feels the flexibility and the comfort of the structure once sat. The user is no more limited in his actions: he can rotate easly the chaise longue, change the quantity of sun he wants on his skin ... and plus he has got a space where he can leave his objects and bag.

Furniture Bachelor Degree Design Tools prof. Boni

This is a book for children that explains how the concept of time was born. The two main characters do not manage in meeting to go fishing together and they need to find a way to do it. In each page there are the stickers of the main protagonists of that page of story, so that children can play moving them as they want. This book is printed on pvc.

Onetwotree 2008 october - july

Furniture Bachelor Degree Final Synthesis prof. Zurlo prof. Repossi

Onetwotree is the project of a modular kitchen, inspired by the pop values. Soft shapes, strong combination of colours are its main characteristics. This kitchen is like a double-sided isle: one side stands for the kitchen and its usual functions, while the other one can be container, that is useful in the sitting room. In addition Onetwotree has got plastic branches on the vertical structure, that combine functions typical of the kitchen with the ones that the sitting room needs.

Onetwotree can be defined as combination of plastic, technologies, graphic and functionalities. These are pictures about the final thesis layout - I explained in detail all the steps of my design process, starting from what is a kitchen for me ( a place where first of all you play) and going deeper to technical drawings.

The reference companies where mainly two: Valcucine and Alessi. They already collaborated creating kitchens like Sinuosa, Agreste and Geometrica. Valcucine is very innovative for what about materials and technologies, while Alessi in colourful, ironic and playful. This combination was absolutely suitable for Onetwotree, that was designed combining new materials plus new meaning and vision about living kitchen. The communication of the concept was an important step of my product system and I designed two brochures, playing with the idea of the tree and of the modular and multifunctional system.

EasyWait

2008 october - january

+ Virginia Hechtel + Jennifer Parker + Mei Xiohan

Pssd Master Metadesign prof. Collina prof. Auricchio

We had to design a new product service system about the waiting area in the airport. Our company was EasyJet and so we had to think about something cheap, in order not to increase the costs, for the company and for the customers. We designed EasyWait, a service to win prizes, meet people and get some tips while travellers are waiting for boarding.

We designed and optimized all the system: the website, the logo, the cards and the advertising. We used some already existing EasyJet brand image characteristic: the font, the colour, the irony in the advertising.

We designed three cards: Easy Tip, Easy Scrabble and Easy Guess. The general theme was to give people an excuse to meet and we created these cards to make waiting passengers share their time to win prizes and to get tips.

EasyWait is a service to make the waiting time useful. Anyway making people attend the service is not that easy, because the airport and passengers condition do not make people interact easly. So we worked on a strong advertising built on the theme of chasing away the boredom with EasyJet. It had to attract people and make them curious.

Bain marie 2008 november

+ Giuseppe Farin + Mariarita Lo Bello

Pssd Master Workshop prof. Benesh

We were asked by La Flute - a champagne company in Italy to think about a product easly deliverable. So we first made a thought about rituals of people drinking champagne and we collected many cases-study about people drinking in the bath-tub. It’s not something that everybody everyday does, but drinking champagne is a moment for yourself - like relaxing in the hot water. Bain marie makes a glass float. It’s mainly a “safety-belt” made of cork and ice, that keeps your champagne glass floating and also cold even inside hot water for long.

Bain Marie kit is born in collaboration between La Flûte and Lush. This set is made by two Zafferano’s glasses, one mould, two corks and two soap balls whose smell reminds you the champagne. Bain Marie makes a glass floating, transforming your bathtub into a personal pond with water lilies. It’s mainly made by a cork that fits the glass like a safety-belt and it helps glass in floating. The mould is designed to make the cork freeze into the fridge and, once ice is created, you can keep your champagne cold even inside hot water. La Flûte gives you you the chance to live a complete experience, to be lived in such a personal room like bathroom.

The Design Atlas can be defined as a collage of useful products of the last eighty years.

Cusign

2009 march - july

+ Diego Gutierrez + Helena Wawrzeniuk

Pssd Master Concept Design Studio prof. Girardi prof. Biondi

Cusign are pillowcovers with 3d prints that will leave you marked. Dreamers are the greatest travellers and Cusign is designed for them. An original cover pillow that reinvents the idea of having the skin marked by pillow wrickles. Indeed the expanded print impresses a particular meaning: love or success. Two main meanings for two Cusign versions.

Wake up success marked! Success can be in different fields: love, work, hobbies, ... On the pillowcover the 3d prints represent in which field you can find your daily success.

Wake up kissed! Who would not like to wake up covered of kisses? This pillowcase is full of 3d kisses that will mark your skin and you will feel loved all the day long.

Design Market

2009 may - june

+ Fabio Carnevale Maffè + Laura Piscicelli + Elena Rovati + Bruno Santos

Pssd Master Concept Design Studio prof. Girardi prof. Biondi

We worked as event team and we were responsible of the organization of the final Design Market in which each of us had to sell his own products. We had to deal with the logistics, we took contacts for the music, food, car entrance inside the campus and so on. We designed the carring skeleton structure, the textile cover but even the personal stands.

Each personal stand was made by three parts : ( A ) the vertical panel, useful to divide each stand from other and even to show the communication and personalise the space ( B ) the table with four boxs at the basis, used as container for the products to be sold ( C ) a museum column with a label with written the designers names and the name of the product - the Design Market is first of all a design moment, each product was unique and taken care of down to the finest detail

Fruteiro

2009 march - july

+ Luigi Partipilo + Joslyn Sneddon

Pssd Master Product System Design Studio prof. Antinarelli prof. Gerosa

Fruteiro do Brasil is an existing company from Brasil and it has some shops in Italy. It’s a brasilian fruit shop and it’s really poor in communication. We designed a brand new shop, to be built inside Magazzini Porta Genova, and a new coordinate image too. Fruteiro do Brasil has good cues not very well developed and we worked on them, in particular through communication inside the shop.

The new Fruteiro do Brasil shop is 70 sm big and we wanted the client pass through the shop as if he was in the forest picking the fruits. So when the client enters the shop he has to follow the path and pass by the fruit balls, purchase something and relax. It is like a brasilian fruit journey. The fruit bowls are suspended from the ceiling, as the lighting system. Inside the shop we can distinguish three main areas : staff, purchasing and relaxing.

RELAX PURCHASE

STAFF

RELAX

The services we deliver are mainly three: you can pick up the fruit you want, using the cardboard bag and the gloves and take them away ; pick the fruits and have your own smoothy ready at the shop ; buy the pre-packed fruit. The original aim of Fruteiro do Brasil was to communicate important info to people and we used the cardboard bags as communication means - and we printed infos even on the floor underneath the fruit bowls. We redesigned the logo using strong colours and the pre-existing image of the hummer-bird that stands for Brasil.

Pssd Master Final Synthesis prof. Pierandrei prof. Morace prof. Buzzini prof. Swope

Do you need to get to a little shop in Bovisa and with the bus it takes too long? Borrow a bicycle! Is your phone dead? Maybe somebody can lend you the charger. Don’t you want to eat sandwiches today? Lina has enough time to cook for two! Is your bed broken? Livio, the carpenter, can lend you his tools to fix it! We built a new community based on trust, to share objects, info, services, ... The basic idea is that sharing is better than owning.

Can you share it is a service based on the users will to interact. Anyway first of all they need to know what this service is about or almost being curious about it. So our system is strongly based on guerrilla advertising, to make people more aware of what they really need and what they can share or swap. Objects sometimes own people and we want to re-establish the right relationship.

The main point of our service is to make people interact - the sharing theme can be the first way to meet new people. First of all we created a web platform that is the basis of the interaction. You register, share something, decide what you want to share and that is how our system works. It’s almost a cross of what is needed and what is shared. It’s intuitive and simple and it is both virtual and real.

I.T.C. Taormina 2 2008 september

I was asked to think about a new logo for a school in Sicily. The tearchers wanted to communicate that the purpose of their work was to educate children not only in the traditional way, but even emphasizing the importance of art, music and technology. So I designed this logo that synthesize what the school I.T.C. Taormina 2 is about and how much teachers care about education.

Toshiba

2009 february

I designed a new advertising for a new personal computer produced by Toshiba. I had to communicate its characteristics: lightness and thinness. So I thought to use the clothes horse, because if you hang something on it, it has to be thin and light. I placed second.

Viola

2009 september

+ Giuseppe Farina

Viola had to be baptized and I designed favours. Her parents wanted something to be used after the ceremony and not to be left on the shelf getting dusty. So I thought about making bookmarkers with cartoon magnets and candies.

Anna

2009 september

Anna is 4 years old and she is a funny, chatterbox and active child. Her mother wanted to invite Anna’s friend using a real paper invitation. At the party there would have been for the most children 2-8 year old.
