For luxury homeowners — and the architects, designers and custom builders—Loewen is the brand that delivers an unrivaled combination of artisanship, experience and environmental sensibility in an extensive line of Douglas Fir, FSC Douglas Fir and Mahogany windows and doors. The Loewen brand practices environmental stewardship in not just the manufacturing processes but in the product offering as well. Nearly 100% of the wood fiber used in the production of Loewen products is derived from forestlands certified by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Environmental stewardship is closely aligned with many of the core values that are present in Loewen. We understand their customers' commitment to environmental sensibility and the Loewen brand reflects their commitment to alleviating our environmental footprint. In 2006, Loewen became the first major North American window and door manufacturer to receive FSC chain of custody certification (SW-COC-1739). By offering optional FSC chain of custody certified Douglas Fir wood windows and doors, Loewen is proudly demonstrating its stance on reducing the impact they make on the environment while providing a peace of mind for environmentally conscious customers. FSC is the only certified wood recognized in the LEED® program. Loewen offers excellent attributes for those designing structures under LEED®, particularly in the areas of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Materials. By only manufacturing wood windows and doors, Loewen is using a renewable resource and an efficient natural insulator that will consume less energy than alternative materials in a home. And, because wood is the foundation of Loewen’s business–everything that we do relies in this resource–we recognize that they must also replace this natural resource with new trees. In 2001, Loewen was the recipient of the Tree Canada Foundation Eterne Award, honoring us for "environmental leadership and commitment to taking action on global climate change through the planting of trees." Internally, the Loewen Environmental Council (LEC) audits company activities ensuring that the highest possible standards of environmental stewardship are represented in company policies and actions. Loewen recycles virtually all of the wood waste created in the manufacturing. We also recycle glass, aluminum, vinyl weatherstrip, solvents, motor oil and paper. And, during frigid Canadian winters, we heat the production plant with sawdust and sell the remainder to local farmers for animal bedding. While Loewen actively seeks to reduce-reuse-recycle, we understand the real world dynamics of downcycling and so Loewen aggressively design systems that are optimally efficient in consumption and strive to produce windows of the highest quality so as to assure long product life. To this end, the Loewen products are made to be repaired and can be removed and re-installed. Once again, product quality is at the crossroads of efficiency and responsible design. Loewen is a socially responsible corporation, buying ethically manufactured products and recognized for our leadership in energy conservation and environmental protection. The success of the Loewen brand through their environmental commitment and they demonstrate outstanding capabilities for customization. In 2006, MRA (Market Resource Associates) of Minneapolis, MN, conducted a survey of distributors, remodeling contractors, home builders and retail dealers. The Survey:
Over one thousand industry professionals ranked the performance of 21 wood or clad wood window manufacturer brands in categories ranging from consistent product quality to good customer value. The Results: Loewen was ranked highest in the following performance attributes: • Providing consistent product quality from unit to unit • Ensuring units are consistently square • Quality features for customers • Effective literature that sells the product • Providing good customer value • Overall product quality • Overall manufacturer service performance and relationship The Award: As a result of this achievement, Loewen has been recognized with the Best Luxury Brand Award for its first overall ranking in over half of the survey categories. This award confirms Loewen as the industry leader when it comes to offering a higher level of product and service performance for its customers. Unlike other window makers, Loewen uses Douglas Fir as the base species of frames and sashes (Mahogany is available as an option). This tightly grained wood does more than just give Loewen windows and doors a rich, warm texture — it’s also naturally tough and resilient, yet remarkably workable, meaning it is ideal for precision milling and capable of holding the smallest, most intricate detailing. To enhance the wood’s high natural resistance to moisture absorption, decay and insect infestation, every Loewen wood component is treated with a water repellent/wood preservative sealant before assembly. • Douglas Fir is North America’s most plentiful softwood species, accounting for one-fifth of the continent’s total softwood reserves. • Nearly all of the Douglas Fir purchased by Loewen comes from forestland that is Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certified. In addition to SFI certification, many of our Douglas Fir suppliers in Canada are ISO 14001 and/or CSA certified. • Douglas Fir and Mahogany — Different. Durable. The ideal species for fenestration and a hallmark of the Loewen brand. Loewen’s Douglas Fir FSC Certified Products Loewen is proud to be the first major window and door manufacturer to offer an entire line of optional Douglas Fir FSC certified products. Individuals pursuing LEED® certification can earn points through the use of FSC certified products. Consumers receive energy efficient buildings and the peace of mind that they are ensuring the safeguarding of forests for future generations. There are a number of common attributes in every Loewen product that set them apart from their competitors. By using Douglas Fir as the core species, Loewen ensures that durability is built into every Loewen window and door. Loewen makes sure that visible wood surfaces are finished with clear wood. Their mortise and tenon sash jointing significantly improves strength and structural integrity. This superior corner construction keeps the window square and true. Another built-in quality feature is the laminated sash. While maintaining a clear visible wood finish, Loewen permanently combines separate wood components into a single unit. This engineered construction dramatically increases strength and stability while simultaneously reducing the amount of wood consumed. Loewen offers extruded aluminum cladding to protect window and door exteriors. This rugged outer shell retains its shape, resists denting, and lasts longer than roll formed aluminum. Loewen window cladding is set away from the underlying wood, creating an air space that improves thermal performance. Finally, the thicker glass is highly resistant to the stresses caused by fluctuations in temperature. Beneath the sealed glass unit of every Loewen window is a hidden venting channel that protects both the sealed glass unit
and the wood sash from moisture accumulation. By allowing air to circulate, condensation that may have formed below the seal can escape—a small detail that adds years to the life of Loewen windows and doors. Loewen engineering results in uncommon strength and durability, enabling dramatic design, innovation and inspiration. 1. Coastal Douglas Fir for strength and rigidity (optional Coastal FSC Douglas Fir and Mahogany available). 2. Laminated sash for enhanced structural stability and a tight weather seal. 3. Dual seal on glass units for long hermetic seal life. 4. Natural clear wood interior ideal for staining or painting. 5. Profiled sash edge for a finished look and integration with Simulated Divided Lite (SDL) bars. 6. Optional extruded aluminum cladding for low maintenance, available in a wide range of colors. 7. Minimal use of exposed exterior caulking on glass surfaces. 8. No metal-to-glass contact for improved energy efficiency. 9. Triple seal glazing system on metal clad units to effectively block moisture infiltration. 10. Hidden venting channel to allow built-up condensation to escape, increasing seal and sash life. 11. Authentic stile and rail construction. No miters. 12. Mortise and tenon sash corner joints for structural stability. 13. Taller bottom rail to create a custom architectural look reminiscent of traditional joinery and to enhance structural stability and strength. 14. Airspace between wood and window cladding for air circulation and added insulative value. 15. Secondary weatherstrip to deflect wind-driven rain from primary seal.
Design Value: Uncover Loewen's design value with multiple styles of Casement windows, rotating Access window, Bifold and LiftSlide doors that create expansive entryways, and Tranquility® and StormForce™ glazing. As part of Loewen’s wider selection of Douglas Fir, FSC Douglas Fir and Mahogany products for the luxury home, they have added the stunning Bella Vista Collection and the unique Cyprium Collection. Custom: Custom window designs are a mainstay at Loewen, where they excel at meeting your needs with custom designs that carry the full Loewen warranty. Brickmould: The trim surrounding your windows and doors adds a final (and profound) design element. Loewen offers a variety of attractive brickmould options that allow you to maintain a consistency on all exterior elevations. Colors and Cladding: Loewen’s extruded aluminum cladding is available in a wide array of tasteful, durable colors. Hardware: Providing the union between function and fashion, the hardware package you choose lends further elegance to your windows and doors. Simulated Divided Lites and Grilles: From classic to custom, our Grilles and Simulated Divided Lite options allow you to customize your look. Loewen uses only pre-finished extruded aluminum cladding to better protect window and door exteriors and eliminate the need for painting. Their thick extruded aluminum cladding
retains its shape, resists denting and lasts longer than roll-formed aluminum. Loewen’s selection of durable paint finishes is available in a total of 36 carefully selected colors. The broad variation in Loewen sizes, shapes and designs and the demanding environmental conditions that our product encounters require an alloy that has the ability to: • Withstand serious impact without sustaining damage. • Allow intricate extrusion detailing. • Provide the malleability necessary to clad the many sizes and shapes Loewen offers. • Deliver the unequaled environmental durability for which aluminum is known. • Provide a substrate that enhances colorfast paint performance. Heat-Smart® Plus 20/10/2 Limited Warranty: While the standard limited warranty on Loewen sealed glass units provides 10 years of non-prorated coverage against seal failure, qualifying Heat-Smart® Plus Window Systems are protected by a 20-year limited warranty in North America. This extended coverage period is also non-prorated, which means that the sealed unit warranty is in effect 100% — every day for a full 20 years. Whether the Heat-Smart® Plus Window System you purchase qualifies for the extended 20-year coverage or not depends largely on the options you choose. Components also carry a 10-year limited warranty with a 2-year warranty on labor.

The Custom Window Series 5000 window system is designed for home owners who desire the look and feel of institutional metal windows without the large framing members usually associated with commercial products. It features expansive areas of glass with minimal intrusion of the framing members, plus the look and feel of quality, energy efficient commercial grade windows. The Series 5000 combines the energy efficiency normally associated with residential products with the much higher standards for air infiltration, water resistance and durability of higher performing commercial grade windows. It incorporates double thermal breaks and hermetically sealed, insulated glass units for the highest energy values (U-Value of .23 on fixed and .36 on operating units). All opening ventilators are double weather-stripped and use durable, commercial grade hardware. The Series 5000 features a very small ratio of metal to glass and incorporates ventilators that swing open to the outside, and can be hinged from the top or from the side. Glazing options are available that will drastically reduce sound infiltration into your home.
Anodized Windows Finishes The Custom Window Company 5000 series window system is available in two different types of finishes, anodized or Kynar painted. Anodizing is an electrochemical process that thickens and toughens the naturally occurring protective oxide. The resulting finish, depending on the process, is the second hardest substance known to man, second only to the diamond. Anodizing is the most durable finish in high traffic areas, and provides a more "industrial" look to the project. Anodized finishes are available in clear, bronze or black hues. Anodize samples are always shown in a "range" from the lightest possible tint to the darkest possible tint.
Hardware The Custom Window Series 5000 window system incorporates only the highest quality, commercial-grade hardware. All of our hardware has been subjected to “life-cycle” testing to provide many years of service without failure. Hardware is available in a variety of finishes.
Hinges: Project-out "awning" windows use concealed, four-bar hinges of either zinc plated steel or stainless steel construction. These friction hinges allow the ventilator to open approximately 45 degrees. Ninety degree opening hinges are available for egress conditions. Outswing Casement ventilators use five knuckle butt hinges finished to match the windows.
Handles: Outswing casements are available in single action or multi-point action, allowing one handle to lock down the entire ventilator. Outswing “awning” windows use pivotshoe roto operators crank the window open and closed. The unique scissor action requires no extra locking handles to seal the ventilator closed.
Thermal Break Windows Glass Options The Custom Window 5000 series window system is available with either 1/4" glass or 1" insulated glass units. The glass can be either annealed, laminated or tempered depending upon codes and personal preferences. Glass is usually provided either clear or obscure. Popular options include gray, bronze or green tint. Higher energy performance can be obtained by specifying Low Emissivity (Low "E") coatings.

Smooth panels of glass can be made in any dimensions you wish, up to 70 square feet in a single panel. Glass doors fourteen feet high can be formed with curved or straight segments to create brilliant spaces in almost any shape. Radius Systems offer curved, stationary panels of glass with glass doors that glide along them in a smooth arc. With the Radius Systems you can create round, demi-lune, quarter-round, or bowed sections of glass with a minimum radius of eleven feet and a maximum radius as wide as you like. You can make a round retreat lit by sun- and moonlight, a conservatory, or a special aerie from which to enjoy your view. Serpentine Systems use two or more Radius System sections to create a wave shape. These curved lengths of glass make an absolutely original design statement. Use them to define interior spaces, too. Again, the radius of the curved glass sections is a minimum of eleven feet, and the maximum is as far as your imagination can reach. Linear Systems are straight sections of glass that can take the form of fixed panels, pocket doors, or sliding doors, fabricated in any configuration. Each panel can be up to 70 square feet and/or 850 pounds. Angle Systems join two, three or more straight door systems in a corner, tee, or cross shape. The combination of fixed and sliding glass doors can create a variety of shapes and connections to make your home visually unique. The Details The doors of the Panorama Collection glide easily on almost-unnoticeable stainless steel “Barely There”™ tracks. With the touch of your hand our Lift and Slide mechanism effortlessly carries glass panels weighing up to 850 pounds. Redstone’s customized capabilities include stunning sliding glass patio doors, easy to operate European Lift and Slide hardware, bi-fold doors, corner opening pocket style doors, retractable doors, and many other configurations.
Custom Capabilities: Redstone’s design team uses state of the art 3D design software to ensure that your custom door is the best design solution for its intended location. Each door is specially designed allowing for input from your architect and design team, and it provides quality drawings for the contractor and installer. There is no door design challenge that Redstone will not consider. Virtually any combination of door configuration, wood species, size, glazing and exterior finish is available.
Redstone Custom Door offers the following door options: Stacking Doors: Stacking doors, or multi-slide doors, operate in much the same way as pocketing doors, but stack onto each other rather than recess into a pocket. Stacking doors can be configured as bi-parting or stacking all to one side. The doors are available with flush tracks or set on a low profile threshold and can be equipped with lift and slide hardware or fixed rollers. Stacking doors by Redstone are perfect for applications where sliding panels are desired, but wall space is limited.
Folding Doors: Folding door systems from Redstone Custom Doors hinge together with up to sixteen panels that can slide open “accordion” style. When closed, multi-point licking holds each panel securely and ensures positive engagement of the weather strip. Bi-fold doors can either in-swing with panels up to 42” wide and 12’ high. Typical installation leave a single panel on one side to us as a traditional hinged door for casual use and fold the remaining panels onto the opposite side. Other configurations include a center opening with panels stacked on both sides. Bi-fold doors are top hung and are available with aluminum self-draining thresholds or a flush floor guide system.
Pocket Doors: Pocket doors are a special configuration of sliding doors where the panels are recessed in a wall pocked when the door is opened. This type of door system leaves a dramatic, full wall-towall opening. A pocket door is ideal for a large patio space, pool, or enhancing a spectacular view. They can be configured so that all panels hideaway on one side, or open in the middle and hideaway on both sides. Redstone custom pocketing doors can be designed with flush tracks embedded in the finish floor or with a low profile threshold. With pocket doors you can truly merge the indoor and outdoor living spaces.

Manufactured in Spokane, Washington, Marlin’s aluminum windows have brought innovations in performance and thermal efficiency to the Northwest. Designed in a climate that can go from below 0 to over 100 degrees in a year, Marlin Windows allow the beauty of the outdoors to come in without the harshness of the weather. Marlin is dedicated to providing an attractive, thermally efficient window product with superior performance and structural integrity.
Aluminum Extrusions Extruded aluminum has proven over time to be the best material for long lasting, low maintenance commercial windows. Marlin Windows uses high quality aluminum alloys best suited for window applications. All Marlin windows use extruded exterior glass stops to allow matching anodized finishes and provide extra strength under negative window loads.
T.I.E. Technology Marlin thermally improved extrusions are accomplished by placing a specially designed cavity in the extrusion that is filled with a high density polyurethane. The bottom side of the cavity is then debridged with a saw, resulting in two separate extrusions that are held together by the polyurethane "thermal barrier". This provides a higher resistance to heat loss and condensation.
Finishes Marlin offers both anodized and painted finishes in any available specification or color. Because custom colored windows require extended lead times for color selection, sample submittal, and production as well as additional cost for setup and minimum order quantities, Marlin recommends this as an option for larger projects that allow for added time. For fast track and smaller jobs, Marlin inventories the two most popular anodized finishes - dark bronze and clear anodized. In addition Marlin's commercial line windows are also available in a white painted finish, since these products are often used as a residential upgrade.
