FAMILIARIZATION COURSE AFM-100 Conducted at Customer Location AFM-101 Conducted at the Boeing Mesa Site OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this course is to provide a top-level overview of the features, capabilities and systems of the AH-64A Apache Attack Helicopter RECOMMENDED FOR: Managers, staff planners, and supervisory personnel PREREQUISITES: Not Applicable COURSE CONTENT: Course content consists of the purpose, location, description and operation of the AH-64A Mechanical, Electrical, Communication, Navigation, Weapons and Sighting Systems.

MODEL AH-64A

Course Length: 3 Weeks (120 Hours)

MECHANICAL SYSTEMS COURSE AMB-101 OBJECTIVE: This course provides aircraft technicians with the skills and knowledge required to successfully perform unit maintenance tasks on the AH-64A Apache Helicopter mechanical systems. RECOMMENDED FOR: Supervisory personnel and unit level repair technicians PREREQUISITES: Students should meet the skill and experience requirements as defined in Table 1. COURSE CONTENT: This course provides the aircraft technician with knowledge of the major assemblies, subassemblies, and line replaceable units for AH-64A Helicopter mechanical systems. Discussions encompass applicable Peculiar Ground Support Equipment (PGSE), technical manuals, helicopter systems operation, helicopter systems/component identification, fault detection and isolation techniques, and appropriate corrective actions. Comprehensive classroom coverage consists of the purpose, location description and operation of the various AH-64A mechanical systems, which consist of Airframe, Landing Gear, Brakes, Electrical Power Generation System, Fuel System, Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), Engines, Hydraulics, Pressurized Air System, Utility Systems, Environmental Control System, Flight Controls, Rotors and Drives. The practical exercises provide students hands-on experience performing system and component identification, servicing and adjustment technique identification, aircraft inspections and systems operation. The students will perform electrical system power-up and power-down procedures, APU operation and helicopter systems operation.

AVIONICS SYSTEMS COURSE AAB-211 OBJECTIVE: This course will provide aircraft technicians with the skills and knowledge required to successfully perform unit maintenance tasks on the AH-64A Apache Helicopter avionics systems. RECOMMENDED FOR: Supervisory personnel and unit level repair technicians. PREREQUISITES: Students should meet the skill and experience requirements as defined in Table 1. COURSE CONTENT: This course will provide the aircraft technician with knowledge of the major assemblies, subassemblies, and line replaceable units for AH-64A Helicopter avionics systems. Discussions will cover applicable peculiar ground support equipment and technical manuals, helicopter avionics systems/components operation, identification, fault detection and isolation techniques and appropriate corrective actions. Comprehensive classroom discussions will include electrical power application and the purpose, location, description and operation of AH-64A Multiplex, Navigation, Communication and Aircraft Survivability Equipment (ASE) systems. Practical exercises will consist of fault detection and isolation procedures, and removal and installation of selected avionics systems components.

RECOMMENDED FOR: Supervisory personnel and unit level repair technicians. PREREQUISITES: Students should meet the skill and experience requirements as defined in Table 1. COURSE CONTENT: This course will provide the aircraft technician with knowledge of the major assemblies, subassemblies, and line replaceable units associated with AH-64A Helicopter electrical systems. Discussions will include applicable peculiar ground support equipment and technical manuals, helicopter electrical systems/components operation, identification, fault detection and isolation techniques, and appropriate corrective actions. Comprehensive academic instruction will encompass Electrical Power Generation and Distribution, Digital Automatic Stabilization Equipment (DASE), Stabilator Control System, Interior/Exterior Lighting, Fire Detection and Extinguishing System, and electrical interfaces for the Engines/Auxiliary Power Unit, Instruments, Fuel, Hydraulics, Pressurized Air and Environmental Control System. Practical exercises will consist of fault detection and isolation procedures, and removal and installation of selected components of the systems listed above.

ARMAMENT SYSTEMS COURSE AAB-231 OBJECTIVE: This course will provide aircraft technicians with the skills and knowledge required to successfully perform unit maintenance tasks on the AH-64A Apache Helicopter armament systems. RECOMMENDED FOR: Supervisory personnel and unit level repair technicians. PREREQUISITES: Students should meet the skill and experience requirements as defined in Table 1. COURSE CONTENT: This course will provide the aircraft technician with knowledge of the major assemblies, subassemblies, and line replaceable units for AH-64A Helicopter armament systems. Discussions will cover applicable peculiar ground support equipment and technical manuals, helicopter armament systems operation, component identification, fault detection and isolation techniques, and appropriate corrective actions. Comprehensive academic instruction will encompass purpose, location, description and operation of AH-64A armament systems/components. This includes Electrical Power Application, 30-mm Gun, External Stores System, AGM-114 HELLFIRE Modular Missile Systems and Aerial Rocket Control Systems. Practical exercises will consist of disassembly and assembly of the 30-mm gun, gun turret and ammunition handling system, and uploading and downloading of the 30-mm gun, missiles and rockets. Fault detection and isolation of the external stores system, gun system, HELLFIRE modular missile systems and aerial rocket control system will be performed.

SIGHTING SYSTEMS COURSE AAB-241 OBJECTIVE: This course will provide aircraft technicians with the skills and knowledge required to successfully perform unit maintenance tasks on the AH-64A Apache Helicopter sight systems. RECOMMENDED FOR: Supervisory personnel and unit level repair technicians. PREREQUISITES: Students should meet the skill and experience requirements as defined in Table 1. COURSE CONTENT: This course will provide the aircraft technician with knowledge of the major assemblies, subassemblies, and line replaceable units for AH-64A Helicopter sighting systems. Discussions will include applicable peculiar ground support equipment and technical manuals, helicopter armament systems/components operation, identification, fault detection and isolation techniques, and appropriate corrective actions. Comprehensive classroom instruction will encompass electrical power application and the purpose, location, description and operation of AH-64A Target Acquisition and Designation Sight (TADS), Pilot Night Vision Sensor (PNVS) and the Integrated Helmet And Display Sight System (IHADSS). Practical exercises will consist of removal, disassembly and assembly of the TADS/PNVS turret, and disassembly/assembly of the TADS/PNVS. Fault detection and isolation procedures and boresighting procedures for TADS/PNVS and IHADSS will be performed.

ELECTRICAL/ARMAMENT/SIGHTING SYSTEMS TRANSITION COURSE AAB-251 OBJECTIVE: This course will provide aircraft technicians with the skills and knowledge required to successfully perform unit maintenance tasks on the AH-64A Apache Helicopter electrical, navigation, multiplex, sighting and armament systems. RECOMMENDED FOR: Supervisory personnel and unit level repair technicians PREREQUISITES: Students should meet the skill and experience requirements as defined in Table 1. COURSE CONTENT: This course will provide the aircraft technician with knowledge of the major assemblies, subassemblies, and line replaceable units for AH-64A Helicopter electrical, navigation, multiplex, sighting and armament systems. Comprehensive discussions will include applicable peculiar ground support equipment and technical manuals, helicopter component location and identification; system operation, identification, fault detection and isolation techniques and appropriate corrective actions. Practical exercises will consist of Maintenance Operational Checks (MOCs) and fault detection and isolation procedures for the electrical, navigation, multiplex, sighting and armament systems; removal, disassembly, assembly and installation of the 30 MM Gun, gun turret and magazine; and boresighting the AH-64A weapons and sighting systems.
