Conflict Resolution & Mediation Skills Awareness (This programme can be delivered in-house)

Overall aim of the workshop To provide managers and staff with an introduction to the understanding, skills and self-knowledge knowledge they need in order to deal with conflict constructively.

Learning outcomes By the end of the programme managers and staff will be able to: • be able to identify positive outcomes of dealing with conflict • To become more aware of self-management self management techniques in relation to conflict • To learn and apply techniques in dealing with people in conflict • Be skilful in creating a safe environment for conflict conflict resolution Participants attending the programme have often found that they have learnt to suspend problem-solving solving and replace it with need-identification need identification when dealing with disputes and conflicts in the workplace.

Day Two Session 4. Mediation at work a. Mediation as a tool for problem solving b. Mediation theories c. The structure of mediation d. Different methods of conflict resolution e. The mediation agreement Session 5. Employment law and Mediation a. Overview of the employment law practices b. statutory disciplinary procedure c. Acas code of practice and guidance d. Discrimination law and mediation practice Session 6. Mediation in practice Participants will experience mediation through a range of scenarios and role plays.
