RE: We Need Help Making Sure Union Retirees Are Secure at Their Annual Event and Their Voices are Heard at Congressional Town Hall Meeting On Thursday, August 20th, The Florida Alliance for Retired Americans (FLARA) will be holding their 5th Annual Town Hall Meeting on Health Care Reform with members of t he South Florida Congressional Delegation. FLARA is retiree the affiliate of the National AFL-CIO and most local unions across the State of Florida are affiliated with FLARA. As you know, across the country town hall meetings on health care reform have been disrupted, dismantled and have turned into fiascos as a result of the right-wing tea party goers. The FLARA town hall meeting holds this annual meeting for THEIR OWN MEMBERS–OUR LOCAL UNION RETIREES, and this year will be no different! THIS IS NOT A PUBLIC MEETING and TICKETS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND. 500 Tickets (room capacity) have already been distributed by FLARA to their members. However, news reports have indicated that this forum is open to the public, therefore, we need to ensure that FLARA members, our retirees, are SAFE, SECURE and are able to attend this event, just like they have in the past without FEAR, INTIMIDATION and not SUBJECTED TO UNRULY Behavior. will be encountering as they arrive for their own event.
