This afghan is knit in three portable panels and it is a super-easy way to master the cable stitch. It is knit with two strands of yarn so you’ll be done in no time.

Free Knitting Pattern from Lion Brand Yarn Lion Brand® Homespun® First-Cable Afghan Pattern Number: 20148 SKILL LEVEL: Easy SIZE: One Size 40 inches x 54 inches without fringe CORRECTIONS: None MATERIALS • 790-346 Lion Brand Homespun®: Bella Vista 8 Skeins • Lion Brand Cable Needles (Set of 2) • Lion Brand Size 15 [10 mm] 29-inch [75 cm] Circular Needles • Large-Eye Blunt Needles (Set of 6) • Additional Materials Crochet hook for fringing GAUGE:

8 sts + 12 rows = 4" (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with yarn doubled. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. STITCH EXPLANATION: Seed Stitch (multiple of 2 + 1) Row 1 *K 1, p 1; repeat from *, end k 1. Repeat Row 1 for pattern. 8 Stitch Cable (multiple of 8) Rows 1, 3, 7, 9 and 11 (RS) K 8. Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 P 8. Row 5 Slip 4 sts to cable needle, hold to back, k 4, k 4 from cable needle. Repeat Rows 1-12 for pattern. NOTES:

Yarn is used doubled throughout. This afghan is knit in 3 panels.

PANEL (Make 3) With 2 strands of yarn held together, cast on 27 sts. Row 1 (RS) Work 3 sts in Seed st, 8 st Cable pattern, 5 sts in Seed st, 8 st Cable pattern, 3 sts in Seed st. Work even in pattern until panel measures 54" from beginning or desired length. End with Row 4 of 8 st Cable pattern. Bind off loosely in pattern. FINISHING Sew panels together. Weave in ends. Cut 8" lengths for fringe. Use 5 strands for each fringe and attach close together (approximately 60 fringe sets per side).
