Standard 6 Component: 6.c Describe strategies, including the use of technology, for the promotion and advocacy of physical education and expanded physical activity opportunities.
Artifact: Advocacy Project Date: Fall 2018 Reflection: My ability to demonstrate knowledge of promotion/advocacy strategies for physical education was assessed in PED 382 School Fitness Based Programing. In this class I worked on my advocacy project (above) which promoted the use of technology and encouraged opportunities to stay physically active outside of class. My advocacy project relates to Component 6.c in multiple ways. First, I listed on the handout a couple of online resources students could use to keep up their healthy lifestyle (MyPlate) as well as resources that list tons of activities to work on outside of class. Along with online resources, I gave the students names of sports teams/clubs that students can join to stay physically active Promoting expanded physical activity opportunities and the use of technology is important for a physical educator because being able to relate with your students through technology is a huge benefit. Everyday technology gets bigger and bigger so it smart to stay with the times as an educator. Also promoting outside physical activity is a benefit because the more attached students get to sports/activities the more attentive and enthusiastic they are in class.
