4. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: (A) NATIONALITY/CITIZENSHIP: (i)

Candidate must be a Citizen of India. The Candidate must be a domicile of Orissa and should have proficiency in Oriya Language.

(B) MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION (as on 01.04.2009) POST CODE: -1 (i) Degree of recognized University in any discipline or its equivalent with 60% marks in aggregate and with 55% marks in aggregate for SC/ST/OBC candidates. Knowledge of English and Oriya essential. (ii) Candidates with professional qualification in Computer /Accounting /Management/Engineering/Business administration/Law/Agriculture/Veterinary Science/M.Sc., Computer Science/MCA/Chartered Accountant and Civil Engineering etc., will get preference over others at the time of interview. POST CODE: -2 (i)

Graduate Degree from a recognized University in any discipline or its equivalent or (ii) Pass in Higher Secondary Examination of 10+2+3 pattern/11+3 pattern/pre-degree or intermediate or any equivalent examination with a minimum of 55% marks in the aggregate and with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate for SC /ST/OBC candidates; or (iii) Pass with minimum of 60% marks in the aggregate in Matriculation/Senior School Certificate (old pattern) or equivalent and with minimum 55% marks in the aggregate for SC /ST/OBC candidates.  Diploma in Banking recognized by State or Central Government is preferred.  Knowledge of English and Oriya is essential.  Preference will be given to candidates who are computer literates in MSDOS, MS-WORD, MS-EXCEL, Networking etc.

AGE LIMIT: Between 20 years and 26 years (as on 01.04.2009) for post code : 1 And Between 18 years and 26 years (as on 01.04.2009) for post code : 2 DEFINITION OF EX-SERVICEMAN (XS) (a) Ex-SERVICEMAN (EXS): - Only those candidates shall be treated as Exservicemen who fulfill the revised definition as laid down in Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms Notification No.36034/5/85. Esll(SCT) dated. 27th October, 1986 as amended from time to time. (b) DISABLED EX-SERVICEMEN(DISXS): - Ex-Servicemen who while serving in Armed Forces of the Union were disabled in operation against the enemy or in disturbed areas shall be treated as DISXS. (c) Dependants of Servicemen killed in Action (DXS): - Servicemen killed in the following operations would be deemed to have been killed in action attributable to Military Service(z) war (b) war-like operations or border skirmishes either with Pakistan on cease fire line or any other country (c) Fighting against armed hostiles in a counter insurgency environment viz. Nagaland, Mizoram, etc.(d) Fighting of service with peace-keeping mission abroad (e) Laying or clearance of mines including enemy mines as also mine sweeping operation between one month before and three months after conclusion of an operation (f) Frost-bite during actual operations or during the period specified by the Govt. (g) Dealing with agitating Para Military Forces personnel (h) IPKF personnel killed during the operations in Srilanka.

Note: 1. Candidates still serving in Defence and desirous of applying under Ex-servicemen category should submit a certificate from the Competent Authority to the effect that they would be released / retired on or before 22.11.09- for Post Code-1 and 29.11.09 for Post Code-2. 2. Ex-servicemen candidates who have already secured employment under the Central Govt. in Group C & D will be permitted the benefit of age relaxation as prescribed for Ex-servicemen for securing another employment in a higher grade or cadre in GroupC/D under the Central Govt. However, such candidates will not be eligible for the benefits of reservation for Ex-servicemen in Central Govt. jobs. PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (PWD): Reservation is available to Persons with Disabilities and Persons under Section-33 of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995. Accordingly candidates with the following disabilities are eligible to apply. a) Visually Handicapped (VH) 1. Blindness refers to a condition where a person suffers from any of the following conditions namely (i) Total absence of sight, (ii) Visual acuity not exceeding 6/60 or 20/200 (Snellen) in the better eye with correcting lenses, (iii) Limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of 20 degree or worse. 2. Low vision means a person with impairment of visual functioning even after treatment or standard refractive correction but who uses or is potentiality capable of using vision for the planning of execution of task with appropriate assertive device. b) Hearing Impaired (HI): “Hearing Impairment” means loss of sixty decibels or more in the better ear in the conversational range of frequencies. c) Orthopaedically Handicapped(OH) 1. Locomotors Disability means disability of the bones, joints or muscles leading to substantial restriction in movement of the limbs or any form of cerebral palsy. 2. Cerebral Palsy means a group of non-progressive conditions of a person characterised by abnormal control posture resulting from brain insult or injuries occurring in the pre-natal, peri-natal of infant pe-development. All the cases of Orthopaedically Handicapped persons would be covered under the category of “loco disability or cerebral palsy”. Only such persons would be eligible for reservation in services/posts who will not less than 40 percent of relevant disability.



Wherever written examination is held, the blind candidates and candidates whose writing speed is affected by cerebral palsy can use own scribe at their cost during the written examination. In all such cases, the following rules will apply. (i) The candidate will have to arrange his own scribe at his own cost. (ii) The academic qualification of the scribe should be one grade lower than the minimum stipulated criteria i.e. the scribe’s educational qualification should be less than Degree for Post Code-1 and less qualification prescribed for Post Code-2. (iii) The scribe should possess less mark than the candidate and not more than 60% marks in his own academic stream. (iv) The scribe may be from any academic stream. (v)

Both the candidate as well as the scribe will have to give a suitable undertaking, confirming that the scribe satisfies all the stipulated eligibility criteria for a scribe as mentioned above. Further, in case, it later transpires

that this scribe did not fulfill any of the laid down eligibility criteria or suppressed material facts, the candidature of the application would stand cancelled, irrespective of the result of the written test. Such candidates who use a scribe shall be eligible for extra time of 20 minutes for every hour of the examination.

In the case of Ex-servicemen and Commissioned Officers including ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered 5 years Military Service and have been released on completion of assignment (including those assignment is due to be completed within the next one year from the last date for receipt of application than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency or on account of Person Disability attributable to Military service, relax able by 5 years (in addition to the usual period of Defense Forces) subject to a maximum age of 50 years as per Government guidelines. Please note that cash, cheques, money orders, postal order, postal stamps etc. will not be accepted Bank Demand Draft must be purchased on or after the date of advertisement but on or before the date for receipt of application. Candidates should write his / her name, post and address on the reverse of the Demand Draft. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD/XS categories must submit an attested photocopy certificate regarding caste / Disability issued by the Competent Authority without which application will be rejected. There is no relaxation in qualification, fee and age for dependants of serviceman killed in certificate of sponsorship from Ex-servicemen’s Cell (DGM &T), Ministry of Labour should also be enclosed along with the application. Application once made will not be allowed to be withdrawn and fees once paid will NOT be refundable on any account nor can it be held in reserve for any other examination or selection.

7. SELECTION PROCEDURE:

POST CODE-1 The selection will be made on the basis of performance in the Written Test and Interview. All the eligible candidates who apply with the requisite fee and whose applications are received in time will be called for written test comprising the following.

* Test of English Language :The test is only a qualifying one and carries no weightage in the total Marks. The candidates shall be required to qualify in each objective Test separately. Wrong answers in Objective Tests will attract negative marks. b) Descriptive Test: - Time Duration - 60 Minutes It will consist of 5 compulsory questions, with internal options, to assess the candidate’s knowledge about Socio-Economic Developments and Communication skills. Note: -

a) The questions will be in English Language, but the candidates have to answer the descriptive paper in Oriya only.

b) Candidates have to pass in each of the Objective and Descriptive tests separately and there will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective Tests. c) Depending upon the number of vacancies, only those candidates, who rank sufficiently high in the Objective Test, will be called for interview. Mere eligibility/pass in the test shall not vest any right in a candidate for being called for interview. d) Final selection will be on the basis of the ranking accorded after adding the marks obtained in the Objective Tests and Interview. The Descriptive Tests is only a qualifying test. e) The detailed information regarding the Written Examination will be given in the “Prepare Yourself” booklet, which will be sent to the candidates along with the call letter for the Written Examination. f) Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD/XS/OBC category will be extended relaxation upto 5% qualifying marks in the interview to qualify for final merit listing.

APPOINTMENT : Candidates selected for current vacancies shall be taken into the service in the descending order of merit as per requirement. Pre-Examination Training- SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/Minority Communities Candidates. It is proposed to impart free Pre-Examination Training to a limited number of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe / Ex-Serviceman/ OBC/PWD candidates at Baripada. The Bank has the discretion to conduct Pre-Examination Training at some additional centers or the Bank may change the center indicated for the training. An eligible candidate who wishes to avail of Pre-Examination Training should fill in the relevant column in the application format i.e. Item No.10. All expenses regarding traveling, boarding, lodging etc. has to be borne by the candidate for attending the Pre-Examination Training programme at the Training Centre. Action against candidates found guilty of misconduct: Candidates are advised in their own interest that they should not furnish any particulars that are false, tampered, fabricated or suppress any material information while filling up the application form and submitting the certified copies / testimonials.
