WIKIPEDIA Absenteeism is a habitual pattern of absence from a duty or obligation without good reason.
MERIAM WEBSTER Absenteeism is “chronic absence.” It is a habitual or intentional failure to attend school.

Factors
The distance of their house to the school, the location of the school, and possible danger on the way to school.
2. Health Physical Health—could chronic health condition like asthma
3. Personal Attitude The student doesn’t wake up early enough is the most common reason why he/she is absent. Another reason is that they can’t concentrate on their studies and that they were not able to study their lessons. Feeling lazy and playing computer games also keep them away from school.
4. Teacher-related When the students are scolded for their bad behavior by the teacher, this tends to make them be absent from their classes .
5. Classroom Atmosphere Students who experience bullying and victimization by peers tend to miss more school than peers who do not experience these conditions. Bullying appears to be a significant predictor of student absenteeism and, at the high school level, a significant predictor for students who ultimately drop out of school.
6. Home-related Household conditions/situation can also be a contributing factor (parental unemployment, homeownership, single parent houseshold)
Scope and Methodology All grade 9 students will be ask to complete a questionnaire, where various situations and reasons are indicated. Their responses will be then be tallied and tabulated according to most common causes of absenteeism.
