Action Plan: Drainage Problems in kampong-kampong in Brunei The plan is to reduce the NATO (No-Action-Talk-Only) attitudes. Step Required: 1st step: My group will arrange an appointment to the director of “Alam Sekitar” which is a unit in the Public Work Department(PWD); regarding the drainage system. Since the letter has been written and checked by our lecturer, we will go there personally and give the letter ourselves. This will be done on Tuesday (17th October 2006). In the letter, we will state our objectives of interviewing the Head of Director of JKR which are (1) we want to know is there rules and regulations about this drainage system, (2) Are there any complains from the community and is there action been done? And (3) How JKR handle the drainage problems? After that, we will wait for their response. Also, we will show some pictures (taken in manggis-madang area) of the drainage which have blockage problems due to growing of some plants, rubbish etc and our findings from the survey forms that we had distribute few weeks ago. 2nd step: After the interview, hopefully within this week, I will make some evaluations which are the combinations of haddy’s and faezah’s findings. Haddy’s action plan is about finding out whether there are rules and regulations about the drainage system and faezah’s action plan is about acting on her family’s attitude in cleaning up the drain around her areas. This will be done as soon as we done the interview. 3rd step: I will write an article to the Borneo Bulletin in the opinion page to share our findings and give the public some ideas about why keeping the drain around their area clean and don’t just hope for the JKR people to do it. Also, since we’ve done some informal interview with someone working at JKR, he mentioned that sometimes the community are not being cooperative in informing them if they have some problems with their drainage. Even, the community can be cooperative by don’t wait till the problem become major (Minor problem can be easily done). 4th step Waiting for reply from the Departments and at the same time see the newspaper response from the public about the ‘Attitude of Bruneian people about drainage problem’. This should be done after I did the 3rd step.
