Departing Staff Term dates for 2010 At the end of the year we will be losing several staff that have Monday 25-29 January – Teachers On ly been reliev ing for us this year – Stephanie Menzies, Sue Ford, Monday 1 February – Nelson Anniversary Teresa Kundycki-Carrell, and Alison Slee. I want to thank them Tuesday 2 February – Teachers On ly Day for their contribution to our school and wish them well for 2010 Wednes day 3 February - Thurs day 1 April – perhaps they will return to us as relief teachers. Monday 19 April - Friday 2 July Elmars Polikev ics will leave us at the end of the year. Elmars has Monday 19 July - Friday 24 September Monday 11 October - No later than Thursday 16 December worked in the school firstly as a volunteer and secondly, as a Support Staff member for thirteen years. Thank you for your Public Holi days help and support over that time Elmars. Queen's Birthday - 7 June (Monday) Labour Day - 25 October (Monday) Congratulations to Rachel Boyd who will leave our school to take up a position as Deputy Principal at Waiuku School. Her Dr Paul Potaka expertise with ICT/eLearning will certainly be missed; we wish PRINCIPAL you the very best in your new role Rachel. For those who missed it l ast week … At the end of the year we will also be saying goodbye to Lesley Kotua. After 50 years of teaching she is going to enjoy retirement! We will have a special item on the final assembly programme when we will say farewell to Lesley and a small presentation will be made to her. If there are any other farewell gifts for Lesley that would be a good time to present them. Reports We are on target to release students’ reports next Monday. They contain a lot of in formation and may take you some t ime to take it all on board. It is important to note the level at which your child is currently working and being assessed when comparing comments fro m one level to another. While it is too late for th is year, if there are items you want exp lained please talk to your child’s 2010 teacher.

Did you see ……? A Jucy campervan was broken into whilst parked on the NMIT side of Nile St between 3:00pm and 6:00pm on 1st December. All the belongings inside were taken. Please contact Aly Walsh on 022 644 6121 if you saw or know anything about this. Care required: Lovely, active family with two boys (7 yrs & 4 yrs) requires part time child care. National Standards This continues to be a hot topic and will be so for so me time to come yet. The M inister of Education has presented her views in several publications and I have provided a link on our website to contrary views; you may want to check them out – there is nothing like having both sides of the story before making up your mind! Grace and Isabella (Room 3) raised $43 through organising a school-wide colouring competition. The money will go to Save the Children Fund.

Cupcakes for Cambodia Bryn and Toby S have just returned from Cambodia and are holding a cupcake stall to raise money to help landmine victims. Cupcakes will be 50c each. Please come and support us at morning tea outside the library this Thursday 10th December. Congratulations Congratulations to Logan of room 3 who recently attended a BMX National Qualifying event in Rangiora. To qualify for National BMX Championships a rider must attend 3 events. Logan was placed 1st in the 8 year old boys section. Congratulations and well done Logan on your wonderful result.

Inter-School Athletics Bus Fare Refund We will be refunding the $3 bus fare for the cancelled Inter-School Athletics Sports on Friday 11th December. This will be forwarded to parent/caregivers through your child's classroom.

Junior Netball Camp Aimed at all those netballers who already play netball and are wanting to increase their netball skills. This two day camp offer participants a challenging , high energy, intense netball experience.
