God’s Eternal Plan The Saving Blood of Christ (Christ gives His intention for the shedding of His Blood: “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” Matt. 26:28; See also Col. 1:14; Rev. 1:5; 1 John 1:7) By Dr. Terry W. Preslar Medical science has given to the blood a mighty place; the most vital indicators of physical health can be found in the blood. But, God gave the blood a powerful place far back in the dawn of time. To blood is ascribed in Scripture the mysterious sacredness which belongs to life, and God reserved it to himself when allowing man the dominion over and the use of the lower animals for food. Thus reserved, it acquires a double power: (1) that of sacrificial atonement; and (2) that of becoming a curse when wantonly shed, unless duly accounted for. (“But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.” Gen. 9:4; Lev. 7:26; 17:11-13). The message of the “Saving Power of the Blood of Christ” is the foundational truth behind the Theology of Christ. The message of the Gospel of the Saving Blood of Christ is defined in many terms. The Blood has been so diluted and spread thin that the Gospel message is made to cover almost every “message” of the modern pulpit. Yet, the substance of the Gospel (the Blood) is in danger of being forgotten. Let us not overlook the facts when delimiting the message of our pulpits. 1- The most exciting message is – In a dull world of religion with little true spirituality – The Healing the sick & raising the dead (“And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.” Matt. 10:1). 2- The most urgent message is – As time tics on and our expiring chronology is enchanted with urgency – The 2nd Coming of Christ (“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:” 1 Thes. 4:16). 3- The most practical message is – While economic concerns baffle the most wise among us – The Tithe (“Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.” Mal. 3:8). 4- The most worshipful message is – Even though the emptiness of “self-worship’ comes clear as the broken race moves from object to futile object – The Glory of God (“Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:” 1 Peter 1:8). 5- The most encouraging message is – As a depressed world waits for a message to move them – The Hope of Heaven (“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Rom. 8:18-27). 6- The most needed message is – Out of all others no message is more sought than that of personal The Preacher's Notebook - Page# 1 -

Redemption – The Salvation of Sinners Through the Blood of Christ (“In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:” Col. 1:14) In all passages which speak of the blood we must look for the MESSAGE of the blood, as the manifestation of God’s Redemption. Cain substituted for it, Pharaoh hated it, Moses practiced it, God instituted it, JESUS shed it, and you must accept it to go to Heaven or without it, go to Hell. In the Greek N.T. The word for “Blood” is “Haima” (Strong’s #129) and it is used 99 times. Forty six of these times it regards the Blood of Christ. Blood is: the Flood of Victory in Depravity’s Defeat S the Fount of Joy in Inability’s Despair S And The Fort of Refuge in our Storm’s Distress. The life of man is in the blood (Lev.17:11, 14). God’s law demands death AND the shedding of blood for transgression (Lev.17:11; Ezek.18:4; Rom.6:23; Heb.9:22). The O.T. sacrifices depicted how God’s Son, Jesus Christ, would pay the price for sin (Heb. 9-10; 1 Peter 1:18-19). Jesus’ death alone could not save us; His blood was required. In Rom.5:9-10 we see the two together. Verse 9 says we are justified “by his blood,” and v. 10 says we are reconciled “by his death.” What Jesus’ blood does for the believer at the time of redemption: 1- Justifies (Rom. 5:9) 2- unifies (1 Cor. 10:16) 3- provides eternal redemption and forgiveness (Eph. 1:7; 1 Peter 1:18-19; Heb. 9:12) 4- brings us near to God (Eph. 2:13) 5- grants peace (Col. 1:20) 6- purges our conscience (Heb. 9:14) 7- grants access into God’s presence (Heb. 10:19) 8- sanctifies (Heb. 13:12) 9- cleanses from all sin (1 John 1:7) 10- frees from sins (Rev. 1:5) 11- gives victory over Satan (Rev. 12:11). I- The plan of God fulfilled (Heb. 9:11-14) (not “just any Blood” But by “HIS own Blood” See 1 Peter 1:18-19) II- The object of Blood (Rom.5:9) Redemption S “ONLY” III- The value of Blood (1 Peter 1:18-19) IV- The result of Blood (1 John 1:7) (2 Cor.5:17) The BLOOD Is... God’s Way S On God’s Day S Because of God’s Say Those who deny the Blood of the LAMB, are, by their actions, Bible deniers. All Blood deniers are Christ deniers and that makes them God deniers.

Conclusion Of all the truth of the Scripture, the truth of the Blood is foremost. With the many teachings there could be many important matters. This essay offers tribute to this paramount subject. The Bible Reveals: #1) That the precious Blood is incorruptible. It cannot be anything else because of its intrinsic purity. (“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold...But with the precious blood of Christ..” 1 Peter 1:18-19). #2) That the precious blood is indestructible. It cannot be anything else because of its permanence. The Blood is eternally preserved in Heaven. (“And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.” Heb. 12:24). #3) That the precious Blood is invaluable. It cannot be anything else because of its parentage. It is the Blood of God incarnate. (“For the life of the flesh is in the blood...” Acts 20:28: “...the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.” Lev. 17:11). #4) That the precious Blood is indispensable. It cannot be anything else because of its power. No sinner can be saved without washing in the Blood of the Lamb. (“..these are they The Preacher's Notebook - Page# 4 -

which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” Rev. 7:14). What a theme – The Saving Blood of Christ ?! With no par, we find this truth to be a featured matter of the whole Bible. The many passages that mention the word “blood” are thrilling for the saints, touching for the sinner and total redemption for the seeker. God Makes Sure Promises for its Observation, Manages Certain Purposes for its Inclination and Masters Satisfying Professions for its Procession.

When I See The Blood John G. Foote & Elisha A. Hoffman Christ our Redeemer died on the cross, Judgment is coming, all will be there. Died for the sinner, paid all his due. Who have rejected, who have refused? All who receive Him need never fear, Oh, sinner, hasten, let Jesus in, Yes, He will pass, will pass over you. Oh, He will pass, will pass over you. Chiefest of sinners, Jesus will save; As He has promised, so He will do; Oh, sinner, hear Him, trust in His Word, Then He will pass, will pass over you.

O great compassion! O boundless love! Jesus hath power, Jesus is true; All who believe are safe from the storm, Oh, He will pass, will pass over you.

When I see the blood, when I see the blood, When I see the blood, I will pass, I will pass over you.
