SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

NONE

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: To conduct investigations into complex, series and serious fraud allegations ensuring the best possible evidence is secured and that cases are fully and efficiently investigated in order to detect offences and allowing a considered decision to be taken about the prosecution of offenders. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: •

Collate, analyse and assess documents and exhibits in order to determine the best lines of enquiry.



To interview witnesses and obtain statements in accordance with the Criminal Justice Act and to compile written reports and statements of evidence.



To obtain and execute search warrants under Sec. 8 PACE to seize evidence and Special Procedure Production orders to obtain access to confidential material.



To carry out searches as designated by Sec. 18 (1) and 18 (2) PACE



To conduct interviews of suspects as designated (utilising special warning provisions and arrest for further offence provisions).



To prepare prosecution and other evidential files for the Crown Prosecution Service or other relevant authority and to attend Court and give evidence as required.



To maintain liaison with other law enforcement and support agencies

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Experience of interviewing (ideally of an investigative nature) e.g. PEACE trained The post holder must be computer literate and ideally should have knowledge of relevant asset confiscation and Proceeds of Crime legislation. The post holder should ideally hold a full current driving licence or be able to travel around the force area using alternative transport.
