Title: Humans affect on Ocean life and its resources Teacher(s): MS Umemah Tareen, MS Carmila , MS Saima, MS Ainee and
Summative assessment task (s): 1: Children will conduct the Morning assembly presentation on how humans affect the ocean life.

Goal:Students should be able to demonstrate their understanding on ocean life. Role: Humans and sea creatures. Audience: VP , HM ,PYP Coordinator , teacher and children Situation: Children will do the role play on how humans are spoiling the ocean life and what happens to the fish in the ocean. Product: A clear massage will be sent to the school community that we should not litter the oceans. Standards and Criteria: Rubrics attached with the planner. . 2: Children will do the inquiry about how humans are affecting the ocean life and children will make a project of a fish . Goal: Students will inquire about how humans are affecting ocean life. Children will make a project of a fish that died because of water pollution. Role: Artist Audience: VP,HM PYP Coordinator, Teacher and children Situation: Children will inquire how are affecting the ocean fish. Product: Students will be able to make a dead fish with lots of garbage in its tummy. Standards and Criteria: Rubrics attached with the planner. 3: Children will make a fish tank to spread awareness how we should use and take care of the natural resources Goal: Students should be able to demonstrate their understanding on how to make a fish tank ,what tings are required and how to take care of it. Role: Humans as Ocean friends Audience: VP , HM ,PYP Coordinator , teacher and children Situation: Children will make a fish tank and put sea weeds, corals, fish and turtle Product: Children will make a fish tank and will present it to the school and enlighten students about how to protect and use natural resources. Children will observe the discovery corner and will observe, investigate and discover all about marine life. Children will watch a animated film “Finding Nemu” followed by Q/A session about the ocean life. They will visit the canal to observe and inquire about how humans are polluting the water resources. Children will visit a village and will inquire how humans are using and misusing the water resources. Children will watch a video on how to make a fish tank. Followed by the questions form the children regarding how to materials we used in fish tank. (Children will make a fish tank in their summative task)
What are the learning experiences suggested by the teacher and/or students to encourage the students to engage with the inquiries and address the driving questions? Children will be asked to inquire about the marine life, how we use its resources. From the discovery corner. Children will observe and inquire about the function of the ocean, what causes pollution and what is our responsibility. Children will learn about how water reaches in the oceans . What Resource are found in the oceans.( like fish, weeds for medicines ,coral reefs ,oil ,gas and other minerals. Children will find out what happens to the animals and plants that dies in the oceans. Children will be taken out in outdoor environment to observe and inquire how we use water resources ,then they will be taken to canal to observe how we are using the natural resources and how do we effect on them .how we can look after the natural environment, what steps we should take to reduce water pollution. Children will do the cleaning activity of the canal. Children will give flayers to the community and spread awareness about the marine life. Children will give garbage bags to the people who work in a close contact with canal. Children will do the sorting activity of different animals as land and ocean. Children will cooperate with each other ( IB Attitudes)..Children use different materials to make a fish tank. They will put water animals in it. They will cooperate with each other and show their commitment with their work. ( I B Attitudes). Home Assignment : Children will inquire about the marine life and will be asked to sit with their parents and jort down the points how we can help to preserve the marine life and its resources. Children will be asked to draw ocean life at home on an A4 sheet. Children will bring ocean animals stickers and will make booklet in the class. Children will visit the school science lab to observe and inquire about the ocean stuffed animals. Children will bring their favorite water animal toy from home and do the show and tell activity regarding the ocean animals. Children will discuss how we can reduce the use of plastic materials so it does not affect the ocean life. Children will paint a picture of ocean life, in which they will show how ocean life was and what affects humans has now on oceans. This will be a comparison between to life’s. Children will make a project on the fish that is dead now because of the water pollution. Children will do the role play with KG class to spread awareness on ocean life and how we affect the ocean. Children will be asked to bring coral reefs and in the class they will make necklaces or a lamp or anything of their choice with it. Children will be asked to bring artifacts like shells, ,ocean relater tools like toy fish, turtles ,star fish ,sand ,fishing rod ,snorkeling gear ,flippers and binoculars to inquire about thing related to the ocean. Children will make fish with the play dough. Children will participate in pet show, children will their pet water animals and will do the show and tell activity In Music class students will learn the poem Baby shark and children will be learning how music can be produced by moving your finger lightly over the goblet of water. In Urdu lesson teacher will learn about different creatures living in the ocean and how we should work appropriately with natural resources. In Art lesson students will make a crab with the recycling material (tissue paper roll)and an octopus with the formic glass. In PE lesson students will learn to move like a fish. They will learn swimming in the swimming pool. Specific vocabulary ( Essential Agreements)will be used to describe under and over, happy and sad Clean and dirty. Vocabulary used in the the lessons (oceans ,resources ,utilize ,environment ,coral reefs ,natural resources etc)
Literacy: Students will learn about the phonemes Qq ,Rr,Vv,Ww ,Xx,Yy,Zz with the dotted ,hollow and the vocabulary related to it Students will do worksheets and note book work related to the stories and the phonics e.g story mapping, character sketch. Communication Skills: listening: Students have many opportunities to develop their listening skills while watching videos ,teacher , visit to canal Speaking: Students learn to share their ideas about the ocean life and its resources. Thinking Skills Analysis: Students learn how to analyze the resources available in the oceans .They will be asked to do inquiry on how we can help in keeping the oceans clean and giving awareness on helping the ocean creatures and their rights Application: Students will apply what they have learned by creating different projects and by using their imaginations. Comprehension: Students show their understanding towards the ocean life ,how we can help the ocean creatures and use its resources, answering questions posed to them Social Skills: Students will show respect by listening to teacher and one another and respecting each other’s opinion and by commitment ,working together and cooperating with each other ( IB Attitude) Children will gain confident and independence by visiting Bata Shoe Factory and interacting with different people and environments.
