HELP! Volunteer Receptionists are still needed to greet people at the UCC, weeknights from 7 pm to 9 pm. Contact Beth Boren at 476-7351 or [email protected] if you can help with this two-hour shift. This is a great way to meet other students, study and see what goes on at the UCC in the evenings.

This weekend, the Church celebrates the second of three scrutinies with the Elect - those who are preparing for Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil. We pray for our Elect: Julie Chou and Doug Hunt. These prayers are to assist them in their preparation for the Easter Sacraments and make firm their commitment as they enter the Church. Please keep them, as well as our Candidates for Full Communion, in your prayers. The Catholic Daughters of the Americas will open a college court here at the UCC starting in March. The Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA), founded in 1903, has courts in parishes throughout the United States. CDA, a life-long organization for Catholic women, strives to embrace the principles of faith through the promotion of justice, equality and the advancement of human rights and dignity for all. There will be an informational meeting Thursday, March 22 at 7:00 pm in the St Francis room at the UCC. If you have further questions there will be a representative from CDA in the atrium after each Mass on March 18th. Bulletin announcement deadline is Monday 2:00 pm. Please submit announcements to: [email protected] with “Bulletin” as the subject.

Our Return of Gifts to God Due to spring break the collection for March 11 will be published next week.

Lenten Soup Suppers Everyone is invited to the UCC Lenten Soup Suppers held from 6:30-7:30 pm Fridays during Lent. Come join us for a simple meal, a social justice message and wonderful fellowship. Please bring a bowl and a spoon, and some bread to share. We are in need of 3 or 4 cooks each week to make a meatless soup, each preparing about 20-30 servings. If you are interested in preparing a soup for one of the Fridays, please contact Michael Burkhart at [email protected]. Save the Date! Everyone is invited to participate in the UCC Lenten Renewal Workshop. This interactive retreat is scheduled for Friday evening, March 23 and Saturday, March 24. Come discover how to find a Catholic prayer style that fits your personality! Our retreat master will be the dynamic Sister Margaret who served on the UCC staff in the 90’s. Don’t miss this opportunity to enrich your Lenten journey. Register at the front desk. Children's Health Insurance Presentation at St. Austin The St. Austin Social Justice Ministry invites you to a presentation from the dynamic Barbara Best from the Children's Defense Fund about the lives of families who do not have health insurance for their children. The talk is scheduled for Mar. 27 from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Room at St. Austin and dinner will be provided free of charge. UCC Marriage Prep Workshop The spring Marriage Prep Workshop currently has 28 couples signed up to participate. This is over capacity so your help is needed for hospitality and food preparation (for Friday evening dinner and continental breakfast items and, quiches, too, along with juices for Saturday morning). Welcoming letters for the participating couples from “established” married couples are also needed. To assist, please contact Dorothy and Deacon John De La Garza.; [email protected]

Catholics Returning Home The UCC will offer a six-week series entitled "Catholics Returning Home" beginning Wednesday, April 11 at 7:30 pm., and will continue each Wednesday thereafter. The sessions are for non-practicing Catholics who are seeking answers to questions about returning to the Church. If you know someone who has left the Church, please invite them to join us. For more information, contact Fr. Ed at 477-9471, ext. 12, or at [email protected]. Compass Bible Study! Meeting on Thursday nights from 7-8 pm in the Mother Teresa Room, Compass is a fun and laidback way to read scripture and get a little more out of Mass. Every week we spend an hour discussing the next Sunday’s readings and sharing our faith. We are student run, student led, and totally low time commitment, so drop by whenever you can. Come hang out with us this Thursday!
