Present Progressive To say that an action is happening right now, use the present progressive.
To form the present progressive, use:
Present Tense of ESTAR + present participle (-ando / -iendo)
Hablar:
Estás hablando por telefóno. (You are talking on the phone.)
Comer:
Estoy comiendo una hamburguesa. (I am eating a hamburger.)
Escribir:
Están escribiendo una carta. (They are writing a letter.)

Rule: –ir verbs that were stemchanging in the present tense, still have a stem-change in the present progressive. (Only –ir verbs!! NOT –ar, -er stem changers !!)
Rule: Verbs that end in –er, -ir and have two vowels next to each other (like the ones above), the “I” in “iendo” chages to a “y” becoming “yendo”.
