Structure of sentences in present progressive

Structure (Affirmative) 

Subject + am, is + verb + ing. are -She is working hard at school. -I am swimming in the pool. -We are playing in the park.

Structure (Negative) 

Subject + am, is + not + verb + ing are

-

I am not dating Zac Efron. He isn´t eating Mc Donalds. They aren´t paying attention to the explanation.

-

Structure (Interrogative) Am, Is + Subject + verb + ing ? Are

-Am I helping with Christmas´dinner? -Is she getting ready for the party? -Are you studying for your test?

We use the present progressive… 

For temporary states in the present*.

-Mary is working at her father´s shop this week. -At this moment Lucy is eating cherries Time expressions: Now, at present, at the moment, today, these days, this week/year, etc. Tonight, tomorrow, next week, etc.

We use the present progressive… 

For actions or events happening at around the time of speaking.

- He´s studying for a test right now. Time expressions: Now, at present, at the moment, today, these days, this week/year, etc. Tonight, tomorrow, next week, etc.

We use the present progressive… 

For future actions related to personal arrangements.

-We are going to London next week. Time expressions: Now, at present, at the moment, today, these days, this week/year, etc. Tonight, tomorrow, next week, etc.

We use the present progressive… 

For annoying repeated actions, with adverbs of frequency.

-My brother is always telling me what to do! Adverbs of Frequency: Always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, never.
