Hema: news story 1/ 45-60secs duration. “L’université Populaire de l’Ile Maurice”: an interesting and original initiative for the sharing of knowledge and critical learning will officially be launched tomorrow at Port-Louis by philosophy lecturer Joseph Cardella. This concept has known great success. Mr Cardella elaborates: GRAB “During the sessions of “Café-Philo”, I was surprised to notice that there was a requirement for more awareness. It was during the first semester of the year 2007 that this idea of a popular university came to my mind and today it is being realized” END GRAB Cinema, literature, philosophy and psychology are the main courses proposed by the popular university.
These lessons offered free of charge aim at
exposing the public to an unconventional way of learning, Joseph Cardella says: GRAB “The popular university will give much importance to thinking, most precisely to the development of critical thinking. What matters is that the public learn new things and at the same time understand that there exists other ways of seeing things and the world around us.” END GRAB
