S denotes sum of first 3 terms of an AP and a GP, whose first terms are equal and common ratio of the GP is equal to the common difference of AP. If the second term of AP is 3 and S is equal to 16, then what is first term of AP? 



AP = denotes a series which is increasing at fixed pace. For example, 3,5,7,9,11 is an AP. Here 3 is A (FIRS TERM), and D (difference) is 2. GP denotes a series which is increasing at fixed ratio – for example 1, 2,4,8,16,32 A =1, R = 2. (R = ratio)(A = first term). www.afterschoool.tk
