Clouds • Are collections of minute droplets of water or tiny crystals of ice. • At any given time, clouds cover about 50% of Earth.
Cloud Forms • Cirriform – Cirrus meaning lock of hair
• Stratiform – Stratus meaning spread out
• Cumuliform – Cumulus meaning mass or pile
Cloud Families • High Clouds – Cirrus, Cirrocumulus, Cirrostratus
• Middle Clouds
– Altocumulus, Altostratus
• Low Clouds
– Stratus, Stratocumulus, Nimbostratus
• Clouds of Vertical Development – Cumulus, Cumulonimbus
