Model United Nations Public Speaking and the Art of Persuasion Monday and Wednesday · 1 pm to 3 pm Grades 8– 10 Students will concentrate on their communication skill through exercises that will ask them to utilize their writing and speaking skills to persuade an audience. A variety of debate and writing formats will be used to provide students with a well-rounded experience. A large portion of the debates will be governed by the rules of parliamentary procedure and the format of the Model United Nations (MUN)
Friday Story Club 9 AM to 12 Noon Grades 3 – 6 Come have fun exploring stories through the arts. Learn by creating theatre games and art projects. Students will learn how to tell stories through active listening and participation. Discussion groups will enhance a child’s ability to predict storylines by learning how to map story sequence that will improve a child’s public storytelling debut.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: JULIE DELLA TORRE Through her work in many school districts and as an instructor at Rutgers University, Ms. Della Torre has taught many to tell stories successfully. She is an established storyteller in a Metropolitan area and has led workshops for professionals. She has BS in Special Education and an MA in Communicative Disorders from the Johns Hopkins University.
