Solemnity of Christ The King

November:

Christmas Toy Drive

The Month of Remembrance The month of November is dedicated to commemorating our loved ones who have died in the Lord. The shrine of St. Joseph in our church will be suitably decorated for the month of November. The Book of the Dead will be available to receive the names of our dearly departed.

Next Weekend: November 28th / 29th It is that time of year to look into our hearts for those less fortunate and donate to our annual Christmas Toy Drive. We are asking for New, Unwrapped toys for children 016. Please pay particular attention, if possible, to the teenage children. Please bring your donations on Nov. 28th / 29th to any of the Masses. Thank you.

All Souls Day envelopes will be available throughout the month of November for those who wish to have their loved ones remembered at the Eucharist.

The ‘Out of the Cold’ Concert On Saturday, November 28 at 1:00 pm, we will be hosting the 9th annual Kingsway Out of the Cold concert produced by the Kingsway BIA. Last year the concert raised more than $10,000 in support of this very important community program established in the Kingsway to assist those who are less fortunate among us. Once again, the choirs from the area churches including ours, along with an orchestra and soloists, will perform seasonal music and a Bach Christmas Cantata. All are welcome to attend. Doors open: 12:15 pm.

In addition, draperies and other textiles are welcome. Please place your donations into the back of the truck in the parish lot. The truck will be open until after the 5:15 pm Saturday Mass and until 5 pm on Sunday. Vincentians will be available before / after all Masses next weekend to assist you in loading your donations. Dear People of the Archdiocese of Toronto, Catholic Education should be close to the heart of each person in our community of faith. It is through the active engagement of us all that our Catholic schools become what they are meant to be. Catholic School Trustees play a noble role in Catholic education. As the name suggests, "trustees" are entrusted with safeguarding the mission and vision of Catholic Education. They must be people who have a deep faith, and a sense of responsibility for the common good of the children entrusted to their care. We as a faith community must take responsibility for the quality of Catholic School governance, for we elect the trustees. Be sure that you are registered as a Catholic School supporter so that you can vote. Become knowledgeable about the issues facing your Catholic School district, and in the coming year get to know the candidates who run for trustee. When the time comes, be sure to vote for the one you believe, in all good conscience, to be most qualified to fulfil the office of Catholic School trustee. To help those considering running for trustee to become more knowledgeable about the responsibilities of that important office, a brief course in trusteeship is being offered at St. Augustine's Seminary in January and February of 2010. I encourage those considering candidacy to take this course. Sincerely yours in Our Lord, Thomas Collins, Archbishop of Toronto
