CHESS FEST 2009 The 12th Annual Chess Fest will be held Saturday, November 14th at Sandia Prep. There will be seven (7) separate chess sections followed by a Bughouse tournament. Doors open at 8:00 A.M. at the Sandia Prep Russell Student Center, located at 532 Osuna Road NE, Albuquerque (map on the back of this page). Approximately 100 trophies and medals will be awarded in the various events. NOTE: There will not be a concessions stand this year. hand. Bring sets and clocks as none will be provided.

There will be NO ON-SITE REGISTRATION EXCEPT FOR THE BUGHOUSE CHAMPIONSHIP. Entries AND PAYMENT must be received by Wednesday, November 11th (Check or cash only, no P.O.s accepted). Rounds for all sections are scheduled for 9:00, 10:30, 12:00 & 1:30 EXCEPT the OPEN Section, with a first round start at 8:30. The State Bughouse Championship is scheduled to start at 3:30. All sections will be completed in time for players to play in the Bughouse tournament. USCF memberships may be purchased at the playing site. SCHOLASTIC OPEN - NOTE - This section starts at 8:30 to allow players more time for their games and to play Bughouse. One section, K-12. 4 SS, G/45. Special rate for players rated under 1100 in this section only. Rounds are scheduled for 8:30, 10:15, 12:00 and 1:45. USCF membership is required. Awards to top 4 players and top Unrated. UNDER 1100 CHAMPIONSHIP - Under 1100, K-12 only. 4 SS, G/30. required. Awards to top 7 players and top Unrated player.

NOVICE TOURNAMENT - 3 SECTIONS: Grades K-3, 4-6 and 7-12 This tournament is for the new player with little or no tournament experience. No USCF membership is required and the tournament is not rated. 4 SS (4 games), G/30 (30 minute time limit game). Awards to top 9 players in grades K-3; top 9 in grades 4-6; and top 4 in grades 7-12. NEW MEXICO STATE BUGHOUSE CHAMPIONSHIP - Two sections: K-6 & OPEN. Entry fee: $15 per team or $8 for a single and we'll pair you with a partner. You may register for this event at the site. Prizes for the best team name. The first round is scheduled to start at 3:30. You must be New Mexico residents to be crowned State Champions. BUGHOUSE Open Section - Open to all. Moms, Dads and Coaches can play and team up with their children to play in this section. The winners will be crowned the New Mexico State Bughouse Champions. Awards to the top 3 teams and the top 2 teams whose average team rating is U1300, U1100 and U900. K-6 Section - Both players must be in grades K-6. The winners will be crowned the New Mexico K-6 Bughouse Champions. Awards to the top 3 teams and the top 3 teams whose average team rating is U700 and U600. Still have questions?
