Tire casing is the fabric that the rubber compound adheres to. The fabric of the casing can be made in varying thickness and threads per inch ( TPI). Generally, the higher the TPI number, the more supple the tire sidewall will feel and flex. This means a more comfortable ride compared to that of a lower TPI casing. The Casings can be treated and reinforced with various materials in order to achieve different degrees of puncture resistance and ride qualities.

By applying this thin layer of a special protective tape to the external sidewall of the tire, it reduced sidewall cuts, punctures and tears without adding significant weight or cost to the tire. CASING ADDED PROTECTION. CAP or CAP PLY as it has been referred to is an added layer of material that is under the tread area and runs from bead to bead. Generally used in Kenda Premium Downhill Tires as a puncture resistant material designed to prevent pinch flats. CASING ADDED PROTECTION. Dual Layer Rubber combines a tacky 42 shore and durable 65 shore durometer rubber on the same knob for optimum performance in inclement weather conditions. The softer 42 shore rubber grabs and holds onto wet roots, rocks and soil and provides a slower rebound rate for more control. The 65 shore rubber is designed to add stability, durability and soil penetration to the pattern and the knob for consistent performance.    DUAL LAYER RUBBER. The slow rebound rubber acts like a form of suspension that conforms to the trail, rock or roots surface instead of bouncing off it.
