The first week-end in June will be the 4th Annual 12 Mile Yard Sale & Festival. The 12 Mile yard Sale is quite an event with Yard Saler’s coming from as far away as Jacksonville, Albany, and Tallashassee, everyone looking for their treasure. We need vendors and if you don’t live along Hwy 33 you can set up in Central Park in Barwick free of charge but you must have a covered space in case it rains. POKER RUN & CLASSIC CAR SHOW FOR HOPE - SATURDAY JUNE 6TH, 2009 Traumatic Brain Injury Support Group of Southwest Georgia invites everyone to come for a poker run. First bike out of Vanderhoff Speed & Chrome Shop at 10 am, last bike out at 12:30. Ride through Thomasville, Cairo, Ochlocknee, Coolidge, Pavo, Barwick (food vendors in Central Park). The ride ends up in downtown Boston. There will be a Classic Car Show, 50-50 raffle, an auction. vendors, a blood drive, food, door prizes and family fun for all ages. The Grey Brothers Band will be preforming in Watt Park, Boston after the poker run. There are expected to be about 1300 riders and the cost is $10 per bike, $5 for an additional rider. CHAMBLISS INTRODUCES LEGISLATION TO PROHIBIT DETAINEES AT GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE FROM ENTERING THE UNITED STATES WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., yesterday introduced S. 1071, the Protecting America's Communities Act, to prohibit President Barack Obama from bringing detainees at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base to the United States. Chambliss has also introduced the legislation as an amendment to the supplemental appropriations bill being debated on the Senate floor.

ARE PAPER PHONE BOOKS DEAD? No, not dead yet. But the vital signs are starting to fade. According to an article in the Internet Marketing Report, more than a quarter of the households in some states no longer use landlines, which means they're not likely to get or use a paper phone directory.States like Oklahoma, Utah, Nebraska and Arkansas have high rates of cell-only households. Conversely, Delaware and Vermont still have a high percentage of landline users. So, the lesson here is to check the stats for your region before you decide whether to continue paying for your ad in the paper Yellow Pages. And regardless of whether you advertise in the offline version, be sure you're advertising on the online version, because even folks with landlines- along with those on cell phones or PDA's- are likely to go online to find a service or product. Here in South Georgia the trend seems to be to go to cell phone service as the reception gets better and if you look at the skyline you will see more cell towers going up which means the cell phone companies mean to capture more of the "phone" market of your customers.

INGREDIENTS:
2 (8 oz.) pkgs. cream cheese, softened 1 cup, or 2 sticks butter, softened 1 small jar oil packed sun-dried tomatoes 10 oz. container refrigerated pesto 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
DIRECTIONS: In medium bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until well blended. Mix pesto and cheese in small bowl. Line two 8 oz. custard cups with plastic wrap. Divide cream cheese mixture into four parts. Spoon 1/4 of cream cheese mixture into each custard cup. Sprinkle each with 1/4 of the tomatoes. Spread 1/4 of the pesto mixture over tomatoes. Repeat layers until all the mixtures are used. Fold plastic wrap over each torte, sealing well. Chill overnight until firm. Unmold, remove plastic wrap, and serve with crusty French bread slices or sturdy crackers. Serves 8 to 10

INGREDIENTS:
3/4 cup mayonnaise 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened 2 Tbsp. apple juice 1 onion, minced 1 lb. lump crabmeat, picked over to remove cartilage and shell bits
DIRECTIONS: Mix mayonnaise, cream cheese, and apple juice in medium bowl until blended. Place in 1 - 3 quart crockpot. Stir in onions and blend well. Gently stir in crabmeat. Cover crockpot and cook on LOW for 4 hours. Dip will hold for up to 2 hours, stirring occasionally. 8 servings

POKER RUN & CLASSIC CAR SHOW FOR HOPE - SATURDAY JUNE 6TH, 2009 Traumatic Brain Injury Support Group of Southwest Georgia invites everyone to come for a poker run. First bike out of Vanderhoff Speed & Chrome Shop at 10 am, last bike out at 12:30. Ride through Thomasville, Cairo, Ochlocknee, Coolidge, Pavo, Barwick (food vendors in Central Park). The ride ends up in downtown Boston. There will be a Classic Car Show, 50-50 raffle, an auction. vendors, a blood drive, food, door prizes and family fun for all ages. The Grey Brothers Band will be preforming in Watt Park, Boston after the poker run. There are expected to be about 1300 riders and the cost is $10 per bike, $5 for an additional rider. ARE PAPER PHONE BOOKS DEAD? No, not dead yet. But the vital signs are starting to fade. According to an article in the Internet Marketing Report, more than a quarter of the households in some states no longer use landlines, which means they're not likely to get or use a paper phone directory.States like Oklahoma, Utah, Nebraska and Arkansas have high rates of cell-only households. Conversely, Delaware and Vermont still have a high percentage of landline users. So, the lesson here is to check the stats for your region before you decide whether to continue paying for your ad in the paper Yellow Pages. And regardless of whether you advertise in the offline version, be sure you're advertising on the online version, because even folks with landlines- along with those on cell phones or PDA's- are likely to go online to find a service or product. Here in South Georgia the trend seems to be to go to cell phone service as the reception gets better and if you look at the skyline you will see more cell towers going up which means the cell phone companies mean to capture more of the "phone" market of your customers.

INGREDIENTS:
2 (8 oz.) pkgs. cream cheese, softened 1 cup, or 2 sticks butter, softened 1 small jar oil packed sun-dried tomatoes 10 oz. container refrigerated pesto 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
DIRECTIONS: In medium bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until well blended. Mix pesto and cheese in small bowl. Line two 8 oz. custard cups with plastic wrap. Divide cream cheese mixture into four parts. Spoon 1/4 of cream cheese mixture into each custard cup. Sprinkle each with 1/4 of the tomatoes. Spread 1/4 of the pesto mixture over tomatoes. Repeat layers until all the mixtures are used. Fold plastic wrap over each torte, sealing well. Chill overnight until firm. Unmold, remove plastic wrap, and serve with crusty French bread slices or sturdy crackers. Serves 8 to 10

3/4 cup mayonnaise 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened 2 Tbsp. apple juice 1 onion, minced 1 lb. lump crabmeat, picked over to remove cartilage and shell bits
DIRECTIONS: Mix mayonnaise, cream cheese, and apple juice in medium bowl until blended. Place in 1 - 3 quart crockpot. Stir in onions and blend well. Gently stir in crabmeat. Cover crockpot and cook on LOW for 4 hours. Dip will hold for up to 2 hours, stirring occasionally. 8 servings
