Montoya Still Trying to Make NASCAR Splash The new season has brought changes for Juan Pablo Montoya. The owners of his No. 42 car, Chip Ganassi and Felix Sabates, merged their operation with Dale Earnhardt Inc., creating, along with Teresa Earnhardt, Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates. This, in turn, changed the make of Montoya’s car from Dodge to Chevrolet. Improvement, so far, has been modest. Montoya’s teammate, Martin Truex Jr., is 19th in the Sprint Cup point standings. Montoya is 14th. To make the Chase, Montoya must finish the regular season in the top 12. He’s only 16 points behind the current occupant of 12th place, Carl Edwards. Montoya, a driver of international renown, is in his third Sprint Cup season. His lone Cup victory occurred on June 24, 2007, at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma,

He thinks he’ll be in victory lane again soon, but recognizes the importance of consistency in making the Chase. “That’s the key to making the Chase, and we know that,” he said. “A lot went into putting these teams together. ... Phoenix (April 18) was the first step toward getting everybody on the same page. “Truex was competitive. I was competitive. It’s exciting. Smith Library & Bookmobile invites you to “Be Creative At Your Library” Libraries from all across America are participating in the 2009 Summer Reading Program, “Be Creative At Your Library”, which explores the worlds of music, dance, art, books, and more. The S.W. Smith Memorial Public Library in Port Allegany, PA offers a reading program for preschoolers, elementary students, high school students and adults. Preschool Story Hour: Children need to be at least 3 years old. Story Hour will be held on Wednesdays, 10-11am from July 8-August 12. Preschoolers will enjoy stories, songs, games and crafts that will encourage them to be creative. Summer Reading Club: This Reading Club is for students in Kindergarten through 6th grade, (Spellbinders) and 7th-12th grade (Dreamcatchers). After you read your first book, you’ll receive a book bag and bookmark. Each book is then recorded in your Reading Log folder. You earn stickers to put on your folder. WHERE’S THE MISSING SOCK? I always seemed to be losing the mate to a sock pair until I found a way to keep them secured in the wash. I bought a couple of the “fine washable bags” that you can pick up in the laundry section at any discount store. I keep the bags next to the clothes hamper and all of the socks go into the bag at the end of the day. On wash day, I simply zip up the bag and wash and dry the socks with the rest of the laundry. I never have to go looking for a lost sock because they all stay in the bag. I put dress socks and nylons into a separate bag since they shouldn’t go into the dryer. When the washer is done, I just pull out the bag with the nylons and then hang them on a drying rack until they are dry. The fine mesh of the bag also prevents these items from getting snags or holes in them. I’ve been doing this for over four years now and can’t remember the last time I lost a sock in the wash. -KR
