Meeting Minutes June 16, 2008 Board members present: Myrna Coleman, Dianna Wright, Rose Klein, Tami Soper, Andrew Brown, Michelle Brown, Kris Meek, Jim Klein and Tommy Taylor. Members: Randy Frazier and Donna Frazier. Andrew Brown made a motion to approve the minutes of the last meeting. Seconded by Dianna Wright. Approved. Kris Meek made a motion to approve the treasurer’s report. Seconded by Michelle Brown. Approved. Jim Klein made a motion to pay the Highlands Pool $120 before the Pool Party which will be on Saturday, July 19th.from 6-7:30 p.m. Seconded by Tami Soper. Approved. The board members discussed plans for the Pool Party and volunteered to contact businesses to ask for prizes. Dianna Wright said that she would contact Licorice International, Cracker Barrel and Subway and that Just Wright Properties would donate 150 ice cream sandwiches. Tommy Taylor will contact Coke to ask for a pop or bottled water donation. Kris Meek said that she will call Sandhills, Down the Hatch bar and Amigos. Tami Soper said she could contact Verizon. Rose Klein said she would contact Hy-Vee. Myrna Coleman has scheduled the Fire Department to come and she will contact Walgreen’s and Ace Hardware. Kris Meek said that she will come up with costs to do a banner “Sponsored by the Highlands Neighborhood Association” that we can use at the Pool Party and Egg Hunt. Kris said that after the 19th of this month she would put up signs announcing the Pool Party. Tommy Taylor said that the Block Party is tabled until next year. Therefore our signs will just say Pool Party. Andrew Brown made a motion to cancel the July 21st meeting and schedule two meetings, one on June 30th and one on July 14th. Seconded by Jim Klein. Approved. Andrew Brown made a motion to exclude board members from the prize drawing at the Highlands Pool Party. Seconded by Michelle Brown. Approved. Andrew Brown is looking into sending reminder e-mails to people who listed their garage sales on our web site so that they know the date of the pool party has changed. Myrna Coleman said she went to the open house for Dr. Bateman the new Optometrist at Fallbrook. Dr. Bateman would like to come to the Pool Party and donate a pair of nice sunglasses. At Dr. Bateman’s open house Myrna met Tony Young who is the head of construction for Fallbrook. Myrna learned that Fallbrook will be getting a grocery store soon and they are building a new YMCA near the new Elementary School. Randy Frazier asked us what the main goal of the Highlands Neighborhood Association is. Tommy Taylor responded that we are a sounding board and advocate for the Highlands community and a contact with city administrators.
This meeting adjourned at 9 p.m. The next meeting is Monday, June 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Highlands Golf Course.
