Antitheft and Alarm Systems: Testing and Inspection Active Anti-Theft Alarm System (RAP) Inspection and Verification INSPECTION AND VERIFICATION The electronic door lock control system is diagnosed as part of the overall remote control alarm and lock system. To initiate system self test, See: Remote Control Alarm and Lock System 1. Verify the vehicle owner's original concern by duplicating the concern.

Vehicle Inspection Chart 2. Inspect to determine if one of these mechanical or electrical concerns apply. (See Vehicle Inspection Chart) 3. If the concern(s) remains after the inspection, determine the symptom(s) and proceed to the following symptom chart.

NOTE: For system inspection and verification using New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent, See: Remote Control Alarm and Lock System

NOTE: Voltage and resistance readings can be obtained using Rotunda Digital Volt-Ohmmeter 014-00407 or Rotunda Dwell-Tach-Volt-Ohms Tester 059-00010 or equivalents.

TO TEST AND SERVICE DOOR LOCK SYSTEM: 1. Check that battery is fully charged (if not, it may be causing the concern) NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module (PCM)

(12A650) relearns it's adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy. 2. Disconnect and reconnect battery to make sure system is reset. 3. Perform the self test. If necessary, See: Remote Control Alarm and Lock System 4. Service only as specified in the tests. 5. Repeat the self test to make sure the system is operational.
