Lent 2009 Lenten Renewal Retreat The UCC will be hosting its annual Lenten retreat Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7. The theme is Our Baptismal call: Priest, Prophet and King. The retreat will begin 6:30 Friday night with Soup Supper and continue on Saturday. Cost: $5.00 for students and $10.00 for non-students. Registration will be this weekend or online at http://s.utcatholic.org/lent09 Friday Night Soup Supper Everyone is invited to the UCC Lenten Soup Suppers which will be held from 6:30-7:30pm Fridays during Lent starting Feb. 27th. Come join us for a simple meal, a social justice message and wonderful fellowship. Please bring a bowl and a spoon, and some bread to share. We are in need of 3 or 4 cooks each week to make a meatless soup, each preparing about 20-30 servings. If you are interested in preparing a soup for one of the Fridays, please contact me at [email protected] Mark Your Calendars—Communal Penance Service A communal penance service with individual confessions will be held on April 3rd at 7 pm at St. Austin’s Parish, one block west of the UCC. Interested in winning $3000? The Christophers’ are looking for entries for their video contest for college students. You are invited to create a short video about their mission that one person can make a difference. Ask Kraft for info- [email protected].

Events at St. Austin’s Parish St. Austin’s Parish invites members of the UCC to join them on their Christ Renews His Parish (“Chirp”) retreat. A retreat for women will be March 7-8 and a men’s retreat will be March 2829. There is no cost. Find the registration form at http://s.utcatholic.org/sta-chrp and submit it via e-mail to [email protected] St. Austin’s will be hosting a six-week dialog series on Wednesdays at 7 pm in Hecker Hall running from March 4th until April 8th on the topic of Awakening Faith—Is connection possible? Where am I now in life? Where am I going? What do I really want? What is it all about?

First Sunday of Lent

Date Auction Results The annual Date Auction was a great success raising $4,100. Through consultation with students, the decision has been made to upgrade the UCC’s computer lab and Internet connection. Look forward soon to a new lab and faster Internet!

Tuesdays ● 7:00 pm ● St. Mark Room 8 pm Mass Parking Changes 8 pm Mass attendees are no longer able to park in the lot at the corner of 20th and Whitis. This lot had been leased by St. Austin’s on Sundays and they had generously allowed us to use it for our late Mass. Since St. Austin is no longer leasing that lot, we can no longer use it. The UCC Staff is investigating other possible parking arrangements and will announce any new parking in the bulletin. Thanks for your understanding. Phonathon 2009 Calling all students! Starting tomorrow, we will be phoning parents, alumni, friends and benefactors during our 3rd annual Phonathon campaign and we need your help! There will be prizes awarded for individuals and student groups including food, gift cards, cash, and even a spot in our parking lot. For more information contact Vanessa: [email protected]

University Graduate Students & Professionals- UGAP invites all grad students and recently gradated young adults to join us on Tuesdays at the UCC. For more info contact Nate at [email protected]. We gather in the Atrium at 7 pm and move to the Mother Teresa room at 7:30 pm.

Night Prayer ● ~9:00 pm ● Mon-Thurs Blessed Sacrament Chapel Gay and Lesbian Support Group With the encouragement and support of Bishop Aymond, the UCC is forming a support group for Catholic students who identify themselves as gay or lesbian. The purpose of this group is to provide a safe and confidential place for these individuals to meet for discussion, prayer and fellowship. Our Gifts to God We’re in the process of redesigning this section of the bulletin, be on the look out next Sunday for a more informational “Our Gifts to God” section. Today’s black bag will be for: Society of St. Vincent de Paul operates stores in the Diocese of Austin, which sell used items donated by individuals. Proceeds from the stores are used to assist families in financial crises. Catholic Center Community, did you get a gift card for Christmas a birthday or office party that doesn't quite fit your tastes? Donate it to the UCC for our 3rd annual Phonathon Campaign! Weekly Reflection Question: In what ways do you proclaim the Gospel to others? Interested in being a retreat leader? The NET—National Evangelization Team—will be at the UCC on THURSDAY, March 5th after the 12:30 pm Mass to speak to any students interested in serving on NET for a year. See them in the atrium after Mass or stay and talk more with them in the St. Francis Room. Vocations Corner If you are interested in talking more about a possible vocation to the priesthood, call Fr.
