29th Sunday of OT

Remembering Our Deceased Loved Ones Traditionally, the month of November has been a special time for the Church to remember its deceased loved ones. So that we may keep your dear ones in prayer, we invite you to write the names of your beloved dead in our Book of Remembrance. This book will be in the atrium until All Souls Day, next Sunday, November 2, when it will be blessed at the 5:00 Mass. We also invite you to bring pictures and mementos of your loved ones for a special display near the Book of Remembrance. The Paschal Candle, symbol of Christ's resurrection over death, will be lit near the book each time we celebrate the Eucharist during the entire month of November. Come-and-See Weekend—The Paulist Fathers Fr. Dave Farnum, CSP and the Paulist Fathers invite you to explore what life could be like for you as a Paulist priest. The retreat will take place October 24-26 in Washington, DC. If you’re interested, contact Fr. Dave at [email protected] The weekend itself is without cost and there are some options for transportation assistance. This is a great chance to explore the missionary zeal of the Paulists and discern if it is for you. Help Make Our Worship Space Beautiful for Our 100th Anniversary Donations of flowers and plants to place around the altar, the ambo, the baptismal font and elsewhere in the Holy Spirit Chapel will be greatly appreciated. These can be dropped off at the UCC during the week of October 26.

Fr. Dan again expresses his thanks for your $8528 toward the Missions. Amazing! Conscience and the Catholic Voter Pope Benedict has called upon us to build what he and Pope John Paul II have called “a civilization of love,” a civilization where the rights and dignity of each person-especially those who are most vulnerable, the unborn and the frail elderly-are respected from the moment of conception until natural death; where the family, based on the love of husband and wife, welcomes children into the world and imparts to them the truths and values that make good citizens; where the hungry and homeless are assisted, the immigrant welcomed, the environment protected, and all legitimate paths to peace are pursued. It is in light of that task of ours that we evaluate the moral quality of what is proposed by candidates and public officials, and work proactively for the ongoing transformation of our society. VOCATIONS DINNER! Join us on Wednesday at 6 pm for dinner at the UCC with Fr. Mike Sis of the Diocese of Austin. RSVP to [email protected] Take note! On November 2nd, we will have only three Masses: 10:30 am, 5 pm and 8pm, as part of our 100th Anniversary celebration. Bp. McCarthy will be at the 10:30 am Mass!

Weekly Reflection Question: Do the "things that belong to God" come first in your life? If yes, how do you demonstrate that? If not, what will you do about it? Pre-Med? Nursing? Pharmacy Student? Join in celebration with Bishop Gregory Aymond on Friday, October 24th at 7 pm at St. Mary’s Cathedral for the annual Diocesan White Mass for Health Care Professionals, also known as the St. Luke’s Mass. This Mass for all those who work in a health care-related field or are studying to work in one. This is a great way for you to celebrate spiritually with your peers and mentors in the field. Questions? E-Mail Kraft at [email protected]
