Now is the time to join the Living Faith Society! The Living Faith Society is a generous group of individuals and families who contribute monthly to the UCC. We rely on this committed income to fund this ministry on a daily basis. We've recently experienced about a 10% decline in monthly giving through the Living Faith Society, which represents about $1,000 a month. We need your monthly support now more than ever! Now is the time to join the Living Faith Society! You can do so by visiting utcatholic.org/donate.php or by filling out a form that can be found next to the bulletins and placing it in the collection basket. If you have questions about monthly giving, please contact Amber Fogarty at [email protected] or 476-7351 x13. Our 100th Anniversary Weekend Celebration! 28th Sunday of OT

Come-and-See Weekend—The Paulist Fathers Fr. Dave Farnum, CSP and the Paulist Fathers invite you to explore what life could be like for you as a Paulist priest. The retreat will take place October 24-26 in Washington, DC. If you’re interested, contact Fr. Dave at [email protected] The weekend itself is without cost and there are some options for transportation assistance. This is a great chance to explore the missionary zeal of the Paulists and discern if it is for you.

CONGRATULATIONS! On October 4th, Brandon Kraft and Vanessa Gonzalez were married. They enjoyed a lovely ceremony as well as a warm and fun reception. Pray for them as they begin their married life.

Be Someone's Friend Come join a group of volunteers who make people happy! On Sunday mornings we carpool to our sister community at the Austin State School for the Mentally Retarded. We accompany residents to a Catholic prayer service we hold in the Chapel. Many of these folks are in wheelchairs and could not come to church without us. For more information, please sign up at the front counter or contact Kathy Hackett at 512.928.1776.

Carbos for Christ All are invited for food and fellowship at 12:30 pm on Wednesdays in the Atrium. $3.00 suggested donation. Come break bread with us at Mass then again at lunch! Come-and-See Weekend—Franciscans The Conventual Franciscans are offering a Come and See Weekend for single men, ages 16-40, who are interested in finding out more about priesthood and brotherhood. Come and see how we pray, study, minster and live together in the spirit of St. Francis. The weekend will be held at San Damiano Friary in San Antonio, October 17-19. There is no cost. For more information, contact Friar Paul Schloemer, [email protected] 800-424-9955. Korean-American Catholic Organization, KACM wants to invite you to our weekly Friday meetings at 5:00 pm in Mother Theresa Room. Our organization was newly established to bring together both Korean and Korean-American Catholic students on campus and foster faiths through diverse activities. We have praise & worship, discuss catechisms, share faiths, involve in volunteer activities, make rosaries, pray together, and bible study! Come join us, if you are willing to meet friends who share the same values. For more information, check out our website: http://kacm.synthasite.com/index.php or contact us at [email protected].

The Mission Appeal for 10/5 had an income of $8528. Thank you for your generosity. Conscience and the Catholic Voter Pope Benedict has called upon us to build what he and Pope John Paul II have called “a civilization of love,” a civilization where the rights and dignity of each person-especially those who are most vulnerable, the unborn and the frail elderly-are respected from the moment of conception until natural death; whre the family, based on the love of husband and wife, welcomes children into the world and imparts to them the truths and values that make good citizens; where the hungry and homeless are assisted, the immigrant welcomed, the environment protected, and all legitimate paths to peace are pursued. It is in light of that task of ours that we evaluate the moral quality of what is proposed by candidates and public officials, and work proactively for the ongoing transformation of our society. October is Respect Life month. Please take time to pray for all this encompasses, the unborn, the elderly, those in prison, and all those vulnerable. Take note! On November 2nd, we will have only three Masses: 10:30 am, 5 pm and 8pm, as part of our 100th Anniversary celebration. Bp. McCarthy will be at the 10:30 am Mass!

Weekly Reflection Question: Each week we are invited to God's banquet. What are your reasons for not coming or leaving early? Micah 6 Food Pantry UCC participates in the ecumenical Micah 6 food pantry through donation and volunteering on Thursdays and Saturdays. Many of the people we serve are homeless. Don’t forget our “neighbors” who have nothing during the fall. Please bring canned goods and packaged dry goods to Sunday Mass for the baskets near the fountain. We ask that you continue to support the Micah 6 Food Pantry with your generous donations. Contact Jim Harrington at [email protected] for more information.
