COMPONENTS OF ENVIRONMENT
Natural Impacts Artificial Impacts Impacts on Air Impacts on Water Impacts on Land
In this unit, we will have an overview of the various natural and artificial impacts on air, water, land. Before we proceed you have to understand that impacts are created by both nature and man. But the impacts of man are more pronounced. In this unit, we shall only mention the various impacts which the student may be already aware. A detailed study of these impacts is the scope of the topic “Stress on physics, chemistry and biology of water owing to impacts”. Therefore in this chapter, the impacts of nature and man on air, water and land would be listed.
NATURAL IMPACTS
Volcanic Eruptions Forest Fires Dusty Wind Storms Pollen grain Pollution Decay of organic matter Cyclones & Tsunami Climatic Changes
ARTIFICIAL IMPACTS
Industrialization Over Population Deforestation Use of Automobiles Fertilizers/Pesticides Over exploitation of natural resources Wars & Nuclear explosions
IMPACTS ON AIR
Acid Rain Photo Chemical Smog Atmospheric Inversion Urban Air Pollution Green House Effect Ozone Layer depletion
IMPACTS ON WATER
Eutrophication River Water Deterioration Ground Water Contamination Ocean Pollution
IMPACTS ON LAND
Soil Erosion Desertification Solarisation Deforestation Land Slides
