ARGWELD® INFLATABLE PIPE PURGING SYSTEMS High quality circumferential butt welding of pipe to pipe and pipe to fitting requires inert gas to be used inside the bore to prevent oxidation and notching of the root penetration weld bead. The best system devised for this is the Argweld® inflatable pipe purging system. It is quick, reliable and easy to use. The volume to purge is kept small, resulting in significant savings in time and inert gas. The Argweld® Inflatable Pipe Purging System is based on a simple idea. It comprises two protected inflatable dams connected by a spinal tube. The tube carries the gas to inflate the dams and the release valve to purge the space between them. The system is inserted into the bore of the pipe to be welded with one dam either side of the weld joint. The dams are inflated to form a seal, after which the pressure in the system opens the purge valve, the inert gas is then fed into the space between the dams expelling the air. Welding can then be carried out, the inert gas ensuring a clean even penetration bead. Afterwards, the dams are deflated and the device easily removed.
PN:
This uniquely designed system means that only one inlet is required for both dam inflation and introduction of the purge gas. The relief valve can be set to work at any desired flow up to 20 litres/min. The relief valve can be set to inflate the dams and purge the interspace simultaneously every time. Compared to other methods of gas

purging for pipe welding, the Argweld® Inflatable Pipe Purging System has a number of distinct advantages leading to big cost savings. Uses less inert gas The volume to be purged is localized. For a typical pipe run, the volume of gas used is less than 2% of that required for a conventional purge.
ARGWELD® HEAT RESISTANT PURGING SYSTEMS FOR PRE-HEATED PIPE WELDS
When pre-heated ferric steel alloy pipe joints typically (5% CrMo) and some other types of steel and alloys are welded, particularly for high pressure pipework or for low hydrogen requirements, argon purging at the back of the weld is required. This is to eliminate the risk of coking and oxidation leading to notching and eventual stress cracking under pressure. After many years of trials and development, Huntingdon Fusion Techniques Limited has launched a range of variable diameter pipe purging systems.

Description One model is available for each internal diameter. Each one is variable by approximately ±12mm. Using the well tried and proven Argweld® Pipe Purging System the heat resistant version is totally covered in a special heat resistant material which will withstand temperatures of up to 300ºC (572ºF) for 24 hours. Operation The system is connected to an argon hose and inserted into the pipe to be welded. The spinal connection hose is long enough for the dams to sit at the outer edge of the pre-heated zone. After positioning the system the argon source is opened, the dams inflated to size and the interspace purged. The purge will remain on during preheat and welding. It is advised removal of the systems prior to post weld heat treatment. In trials the devices have performed many welds under these conditions.

ARGWELD® WELD PURGE MONITOR MKV
PN: HF/APM0005 Measures the content of Oxygen in the purge gas to indicate when it is safe to carry out a weld Keeps waiting time to minimum The monitor can tell the operator exactly when the Oxygen level is low enough to commence welding. No estimating or
guesswork is involved, so no time or gas is wasted waiting for the correct Oxygen level to be reached. Saves on excessive use of inert gas The exact Oxygen content is shown on the monitor so no more inert gas than necessary has to be used to ensure that the weld will be free of oxidation. Prevents weld failures Premature starts on welds are avoided, high quality welding is ensured. Coked porous and discoloured welds can be prevented. Highly portable Its small size makes it easy and very convenient to use in all weld purging situations. Battery operation allows it to be carried anywhere. Titanium / Duplex / Stainless Steel The MKV monitor can be used to weld Titanium, Duplex and Stainless Steels.
Low cost The monitor is available at a low relative cost and is a perfect accessory for use with any pipe weld purging system or argon welding enclosure. Continuous monitoring of oxygen levels A continuous read out of the Oxygen level is given, even when welding is taking place. This can avoid unforeseen purging problems that could cause quality failures after the weld has started. Calibration and Certification Our instrument is supplied calibrated with certificates for Industry Standards included. Re-calibration is available to operators at any time. Continuous calibration on the front of the instrument is provided. Extra Range The MKV monitor indicates Oxygen levels down to 100 parts per million (PPM) 0.01% and measures accurately down to 0.1%.
TECHWELD ™ TEG-3 TUNGSTEN ELECTRODE GRINDER
PN: TEG3002 FEATURES Repeatable points every time The use of the TEG-3 grinder will give exactly the same tungsten points every time, enabling consistent repeatable arc performance and welding results.
Axial grinding By grinding the points longitudinally, the TEG-3 eliminates arc flicker or wander. Any sizes Sizes from 1.6mm to 4mm can be ground as standard. Any other sizes can be catered for on request. Low cost The grinder is custom-built for the job. The cost saved in grinding wheels alone can provide rapid payback on the small outlay required to purchase this grinder. Prolonged tungsten life Savings on the life of properly ground tungsten electrodes can be achieved. With the special collect accessory, shorter tungstens can be held, significantly increasing the length of life of each tungsten before it is discarded. TIG welding requires tungsten electrodes with perfectly ground and polished tips. Huntingdon Fusion
Techniques’ TEG-3 provides these, timeafter-time, to exactly the same size and shape at low cost. The diamond wheel grinds the tungstens longitudinally. This prevents arc flicker or wander caused by circumferential lines or ridges found on electrodes which have been ground incorrectly. With tungsten electrodes ground and polished, mechanized welding can produce identical, repeatable results every time. With manual welding the shape of the tungsten is just as important. With a correctly-shaped tip, the arc can be precisely positioned with none of the preferential arcing experienced when using poorly shaped manually ground tips. The TEG-3 is a high performance tool that is an essential tool for every welding workshop where the TIG process is used.
ARGWELD® TRAILING SHIELDS FOR TITANIUM AND STAINLESS STEEL WELDING
270
PN: HF/ATS Trailing Shields The Argweld® trailing shields are designed for high quality gas coverage
of titanium and stainless steel during welding to prevent oxidation. They will fit any make of TIG (GTAW) or plasma (PAW) welding torch for manual and automatic welding on pipes, vessels or flat plate, inside or out. By using an Argweld® Trailing shield welds will be left bright and shiny and eliminate discoloration and oxidation. Argweld® Trailing shields will reduce gas consumption, save re-work and eliminate wasted material costs due to
oxidation. Argweld® Trailing shields can be used for welding stainless steels, duplexes as well as titanium and any other weldable metal where discoloration or oxidation needs to be eliminated. The shields are manufactured to weld flat plate and any diameter tube, pipe or vessel. The radiused models are provided to suit the exact diameter of pipe or vessel being welded.
ARGWELD® WATER SOLUBLE PURGE DAM FILM It dissolves away completely without leaving any fibres to clog up filters or other sensitive parts in a system and it is strong in all directions so that it can maintain a good gas barrier throughout the purging process. Trace element certification can be provided to show that Argweld® purge film does not contain any harmful elements and that the quantity of halides is well below the permissible levels. The film and adhesive are completely biodegradable and all packaging materials are recyclable. HF/APF0001 Kit comes with: • 20 square metres of water soluble film • Cutting knife • 2 bottles of adhesive • Instruction manual
ARGWELD® WELD BACKING TAPE Extending the Argweld® range of purging products, Huntingdon Fusion Techniques are providing an economical non metallic weld backing system for the backing of welds, where purging is required but not easily achieved, for quality and for supporting weld roots to improve weld bead profiles. Typically for the welding of thin wall stainless steel sheet and vessels from, one side only, the backing tape can be attached to the backside of the weld, to support the weld pool, keep the argon from the weld torch surrounding the weld pool and eliminate the need to back purge, while giving a consistent high quality underbead profile. For purging large vessels the tremendous savings of purge gas and waiting time, pays for the use of the backing tape many times over. The high temperature heat resistant adhesive aluminium backing foil is 75mm (3 inch) wide and in the centre is a heat resistant band of woven glass fibre cloth 25mm (1 inch) wide. The glass fibre cloth has a weight of 1000 grams per square metre. The 80amp tape comes in rolls of 25m (80º) length and the 160A tape rolls are 12.5 (40º) long. The thickness of the cloth will support single pass welding at weld currents up to 160amps, without change to the chemistry or metallurgy of the weld.
Features • Speeds up production • Provides back purge facility • Ideal for stainless steel and alloyed metals • Saves cleaning costs • Massive purge gas savings • Eliminates weld defects • Suitable for sheet, plate, pipes, vessels • For horizontal or vertical welding • No gouging or grinding • No re-welding or rework

Robovent YOUR SINGLE SOURCE FOR WELDING VENTILATION SYSTEMS RoboVent, with over 20 years of experience in the weld smoke filtration industry, understands your challenges and has developed a product line to meet any smoke filtration need. Customer driven, the RoboVent product line has exceeded the demands of the Manufacturing Industry and has taken the filtration industry to new levels. The RoboVent products you will find in the following pages have been designed specifically to meet customer requirements in flexibility, ease of use and consistent performance. ROBOVENT IS A UNIQUE, PROVEN, ENGINEERED AIR FILTRATION SYSTEM DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR MANUAL AND ROBOTIC WELDING. DO IT RIGHT SO YOUR EMPLOYEES BREATHE CLEAN AIR, YOUR PLANT STAYS CLEAN, AND YOU SAVE MONEY MANUFACTURING TODAY. Many welding manufacturers today have experienced great challenges with fume extraction systems for their welding processes. You live in a world where Production is King and your income is based on getting product welded and delivered. Any air quality system must be designed to fit seamlessly into the current production process, and it cannot hinder workflow. Some of the key issues that Manufacturers are looking to address in a ventilation system are: • Eliminate weld smoke haze in the air. • Lower maintenance costs. • Eliminate negative air pressure in the building. • Limit costly heating and cooling expenses. • Minimize the use of valuable floor space. • Decrease employee turnover. Working closely with manufacturing companies over the last 20 years has helped us understand the needs of a production environment. We have worked hard to meet these needs, and to identify and address the key issues that impact your bottom line. If you use an exhaust system to achieve clean air, you are facing two dilemmas – high energy costs through the loss of heated or cooled air, and the risk of exceeding environmental regulations. “Just imagine trying to heat or cool your home with the windows open.” The same principle applies with exhaust systems. You are forced to constantly heat or cool outside air. And, when outside temperature is very low or high, the energy costs literally go through the roof. You need a system that can effectively filter the air and return it to your facility. SAVE ENERGY. SAVE MONEY. VENTILATION OPTIONS With employee health, and plant safety and cleanliness becoming more of a priority for the welding industry, the

ventilation industry has grown quickly and developed a wide range of methods and products. With such rapid industry growth, how to clean air in a plant and what equipment to use to accomplish it have become a real challenge. Selecting the right air filtration system is a process that involves closely evaluating your welding operation. Embracing this process can impact your bottom line, as studies have shown. Maintaining cleaner facilities leads to fewer accidents, lower employee turnover, lower health care costs and a positive impact on customers who visit the plant. ONE-STOP SOURCE IN THE INDUSTRY.
