The company began when Joseph Lauder and wife Estée Lauder began producing cosmetics in New York City, New York. Estée Lauder is one of the world's leading manufacturers and marketers of skin care, cosmetics, perfume and hair care products not topping French company L’Oreal. Estée Lauder was the first women’s fragrance company to create a skincare line for men. The current faces of Estée Lauder include Carolyn Murphy, Liya Kebede, Gwyneth Paltrow, Elizabeth Hurley, and Hilary Rhoda. Estée Lauder distributes its products through department stores and also owns many divisions of other brands.
