The Biological Expression of Conscious Intention Credits: 3 NURS 195 Course Description: A conscious exploration of the new awareness offered by leading edge scientific research on the biological effect of our thoughts, perceptions and words on the reconstruction of human reality. This course will explore the personal and global healing potential of consciousness and intention. Course Objectives: 1. Analyze one’s perception of self and our interaction with the Universe by reexamining one’s core ideas and beliefs. 2. Identify one’s purpose in life using intention characterized as “a purposeful plan to perform an action, which will lead to a desired outcome”. 3. Analyze the power and effect of all modalities of communication on our core ideas, beliefs and conscious intention. 4. Critique current literature relating to the healing power of conscious intention. 5. Explore the healing possibilities on the premise: thought affects physical reality. 6. Describe the human potential for conscious evolution. Course Topics: 1. The power and effect of communication will explore the diversity in our communication styles, our beliefs and our perceptions. Identification of personal gender, culture, age and life experience will identify self and provide a better understanding of our unique way of being in the world, our interactions with others and its potential to positively or negatively affect our environment. 2. Review of current research on the power of consciousness, intention and our beliefs will include the presentation of the work of Bruce Lipton,Deepak Chopra, Candace Pert, Lynne McTaggart, Dean Radin, Eckhart Tolle and many other researchers. My clinical nursing experiences relating to this field will also be presented. 3. Experiential practice of conscious healing modalities will include stories, discussions and practical techniques to help release the energy, compassion and wisdom we need to create physical and mental states of well being.

All course assignments must be completed for a passing grade to be achieved 2. Students are expected to complete course assignments by the due dates identified in the syllabus 3. Tardiness will be reflected in the grade of the assignment 4. Class Format: The class will be conducted in a seminar style format. It will be essential that all students attend class and prepare to actively participate. Discussions will often center on assigned reading material, videos etc. The goal is to have open, engaging and inspiring conversation. The student’s active participation is essential to achieve this goal. Questions and reflections will initiate class discussions and offer the potential for personal growth and transformation. 3. Initial paper and presentation on the perception of the self. Who am I? Each student will present an overview of their beliefs, dreams, life history and goals in life. Include perception of consciousness and healing. (25%) 4. Final paper and presentation will be a reflective view of the initial paper, the present moment and all class discussions. Students will identify a general topic or a specific issue and explore the potential of conscious intention and connect it with current literature. (35%)
