Fajar Sukmana / 17018074 NARRATIVE TEXT Narrative text is an imaginary story that aims to entertain the reader. Imaginary story could be just an imagination or fictional story made by someone or a group of people who have not proven the truth. The examples of the stories: Robin Hood, Cinderella, etc. SOCIAL FUNCTION: 

To amuse, entertain, and deal with an actual experience in different ways



To convey moral value which is very helpful to build kids’ personality

THE GENERIC STRUCTURE OF THE TEXT: 

Orientation : the introduction of the story



Complication : where the problem of the story developed



Resolution : where the proble of the story is solved



Coda/reorientation (optional)

LANGUAGE FEATURES: 1. Past tense (woke, pushed, ect.) 2. Adverb of time (one day, long time ago, ect.) 3. Conjunction (then, after that, ect.) 4. Specific character (robin hood, moana, ect.) 5. Action verbs (walked, ran, punched) 6. Direct speech (robin hood asked, “what are you doing?”) 7. Direct speech uses present tense

KINDS OF NARRATIVE TEXT: 

FABLE: a short story, typically with animals as characters, conveying a moral.



FOLKTALES: a story originating in popular culture, typically passed on by word of mouth.



FAIRYTALES: a children's story about magical and imaginary beings and lands.



MYTH: a traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of a people or explaining some natural or social phenomenon, and typically involving supernatural beings or events.



LEGEND : a traditional story sometimes popularly regarded as historical but unauthenticated.
