First - I am using this week to introduce the first part of our new Vision statement. Please display the following words of the statement before and after the service Our Vision: Community in Christ Accepting All Reaching Out Transforming Lives Second - know that this Sunday is the day we kick off Sunday School - expect a responsive reading or litany from Pastor Diane - choose an image for Teacher Dedication in the first service - and please display the names of the kids receiving Bibles at the second service. Third - please remember we have communion Sunday - standard responses are fine Fourth - focus announcements on Welcome Potluck next week (highlight time and location), and Living By Grace class Finally - the theme for Sunday - I am preaching on what it means to be a church that is "accepting of all". I will preach that such acceptance isn't based on our being good and tolerant people, but rather on the love of God. I'll contrast Jesus' acceptance of the sinful woman with Simon's response as person whose goodness provides a thin veneer over judgmentalism. Finally, we are accepting as a church only if we remember that we have been accepted, and because we see people through the eyes of God's love. Images to use - any pictures of the woman washing Jesus feet with her tears, as well as pictures of acceptance or people who we would be challenged to accept. Pictures of Jesus "accepting" children - let the little children come to me - can figure prominently during the portions of the service dedicated to Sunday School kick-off. Thanks Bill. Pastor Wes

Lord of the Dance

I danced in the morning when the world was begun, and I danced in the moon and the stars and the sun, and I came down from heaven and I danced on the earth. At Bethlehem I had my birth.
I danced for the scribe and the Pharisee, but they would not dance and they would not follow me; I danced for the fishermen, for James and John; they came to me and the dance went on.
Dance, then, wherever you may be; I am the Lord of the Dance, said he. And I'll lead you all wherever you may be, and I'll lead you all in the dance, said he.
Dance, then, wherever you may be; I am the Lord of the Dance, said he. And I'll lead you all wherever you may be, and I'll lead you all in the dance, said he.
I danced on the sabbath when I cured the lame, the holy people said it was a shame; they whipped and they stripped and they hung me high; and they left me there on a cross to die.
I danced on a Friday and the sky turned black; it's hard to dance with the devil on your back; they buried my body and they thought I'd gone, but I am the dance and I still go on.
Dance, then, wherever you may be; I am the Lord of the Dance, said he. And I'll lead you all wherever you may be, and I'll lead you all in the dance, said he.
They cut me down and I leapt up high, I am the life that'll never, never die; I'll live in you if you'll live in me; I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.

O Lord, you're beautiful, your face is all I seek; and when your eyes are on this child, your grace abounds to me. O Lord, you're wonderful, your touch is all I need; and when your hand is on this child, your healing I receive. O Lord, you're beautiful, your face is all I seek; and when your eyes are on this child, your grace abounds to me.
Jesus, name above all names, beautiful Savior, glorious Lord. Emmanuel, God is with us blessed Redeemer, living Word.

Pastor: Loving God, we thank you for the people who have lovingly presented themselves for the work of Christian education and formation.
Teachers: Gracious God. Thank you for the opportunity for growth and service. We come first as disciples, seeking wisdom and knowledge from you. Teach us so that we can teach others. Congregation: We covenant to pray for our leaders and for all the children, youth, and adults who will attend classes this year. Lord, enable all of us to grow spiritually.
Pastor: We pray for those who venture into our classrooms for the first time. We pray especially for those who will come searching for God and for a Christian family.
Teachers: Accepting God, who shows us how to welcome the stranger. Use our classrooms and groups as loving examples of Christian community for people of ages. Pastor: Let us pray Eternal God, you have entrusted us with the message of your power, grace justice, and love. Provide us your guidance that we may be teachers and learners together. Bless each one gathered before us, enabling them to be channels of your grace. We pray through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen

The Lord be with you.
And also with you. Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven we praise your name and join their unending hymn.
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ’s offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith.
Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.
All honor and glory is yours, almighty God, now and forever.
Amen.
Come, Share the Lord

We gather here in Jesus' name, his love is burning in our hearts like living flame; for through the loving Son the Father makes us one:
No one is a stranger here, everyone belongs; finding our forgiveness here, we in turn forgive all wrongs.
Come, take the bread; come, drink the wine; come, share the Lord.
He joins us here, he breaks the bread, the Lord who pours the cup is risen from the dead; the one we love the most is now our gracious host:
We are now a family of which the Lord is head; though unseen he meets us here in the breaking of the bread.
Come, take the bread; come, drink the wine; come, share the Lord.
We'll gather soon where angels sing; we'll see the glory of our Lord and coming King; now we anticipate the feast for which we wait:
Come, Share the Lord
Come, take the bread; come, drink the wine; come, share the Lord. #2269
