ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE SURVIVAL INSTRUCTION VIRAL INFECTION The infections are caused by a virus which is the smallest living thing. There are more than millions of viruses, but it was only 5,000 types of virus that can be identified. They infected by invading host cells which can be bacteria cell or our organ cell. As they enter the cell, they release their genetic materials. Viruses grow in the cell and expanded population all over the cell. When the cell dies, viruses come out and started to infect other host cells. Examples of diseases are human Papillomavirus(HPV), influenza, hepatitis C, polio, Ebola, Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), etc.
BACTERIAL INFECTION There are a trillion strains of bacteria classified by shapes, color, and size, but just a few cause diseases. Bacteria have three main shapes; spherical, rod-shaped, and spiral. Another special property of bacteria is that they can live in an extremely hot or intense cold. Examples of bacterial diseases are cholera, food poisoning, pneumonia, tuberculosis, thyroid, sexually transmitted diseases, etc.
FUNGAL INFECTION In the environment, the fungus is decomposer, but it also can cause human infection. Most fungal infections usually appear on the upper layer of skin and some developed to the deeper layer. Fungi reproduce the populations by spreading spore to the air and develop from one spore to many cells of fungi called colony. Fungal infection doesn’t often happen in human because good bacteria in our bodies will destroy fungi. However, If our body don’t have enough amount of bacteria, it could be infected by fungi. There are two ways that lead to higher risk in fungal infection which are using antibiotics for long time, have a weakened immune system, due, for examples HIV or AIDS. Examples of the infections are athlete’s foot, ringworm, valley fever.
PROTOZOAN Protozoan infection is caused by single-celled organisms. These have abilities as same as animals, such as mobility, and be able to survive without a host. Most of the protozoan diseases are transferred from the feces.
HOW TO AVOID INFECTION - Good hygiene -> wash hands before preparing a meal, after using the bathroom, and after cover your mouth preventing coughing. - Wash and bandage all cuts - Don’t share eating utensils, dishes, or glasses - Practice good food-safety techniques by rinse meat and vegetables with running water, separate raw foods and cooked foods, wash your hands with soap. - Vaccination to prevent infections before it comes - Using condom to prevent STD.
