CCO Student Ministries Youth Coach Application 22145 Kafir Rd. Oronogo, MO 64855 417.673.3945 Fax 417.673.4349 Introduction Because you have indicated a definite interest in serving as a Youth Coach of Christ’s Church of Oronogo in Oronogo, Missouri, you are asked to carefully read and complete this questionnaire. Because of the significant requirements and responsibilities placed upon a leader, our staff and Elders believe that you should meet many of the very scriptural qualifications that are set forth in the New Testament for church leaders. These qualifications ensure that leaders are chosen from individuals exhibiting a notable level of Christian maturity, which is essential in this position. Because some of the qualifications require knowledge of an individual’s personal life, this questionnaire will be held in the strictest confidence. Your response to this questionnaire will not be shared outside the body of now serving staff and Elders. Your response is required before your consideration for leadership can be completed. Completion of this application however, does not guarantee a position of leadership within the CCO Student Ministry. The questions below are divided into four general categories. The first two areas relate to you and your involvement at Christ’s Church of Oronogo. The third set of questions is important from the standpoint of unity within the local congregation. The first church in Jerusalem was noted for its exemplary unity. Those early Christians were referred to as being of “one heart and one mind.” It is difficult to maintain unity within the leadership if we come from widely separated doctrinal positions. To maintain unity within the leadership and the local congregation of Christ’s Church of Oronogo, we feel these questions deserve your prayerful response. We understand that no one is perfect. A negative (or undesirable) answer to any one question does not automatically disqualify an individual. These scriptural guidelines are qualifications to help the congregation obtain people of the highest spiritual standards possible, and who are willing to serve in this critical ministry in Christ’s church. This application should take you approximately 45 minutes to

complete. The space provided after each question should be adequate for your answers. We thank you again for your willingness to apply and serve. We are praying for God to bring to us the right people with the right heart and passion to serve Jr. and Sr. High school students. CCO Youth Staff Team

What students need from caring adults Changing the youth world happens one student at a time. Students do not connect to programs: they connect to people. The most effective way to influence students is through significant relationships with key people in their lives. Our goal is to develop leaders who minister to students. Students need adults who will: · Love God and live for Him · Be interested in their lives · Pray for them · Be real · Say encouraging words · Believe in them · Laugh · Go to “their world” · Be consistent to the programs · Be patient · Enjoy life · Take initiative to build relationships · Remember their names and care for them

· Share God’s love through personal experience What I am committing to? · A commitment of at least 2 years to volunteer as being a youth coach (our students need consistency in their leaders) · Consistent attendance at a program (We ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes early and stay at least 15 minutes late. These extra minutes become key relational time with students.) · Relational ministry with students during the week (one half-hour additional time commitment for follow-up with students through notes, phone calls, meetings, etc….) · Going to their world on a regular basis (school lunch, sporting events, concerts, arrange once a month service projects and/or social activities etc) · Growing as a believer and a minister Our goal is to help volunteer leaders move from program-directed ministry (dependent on the program) to self-directed ministry (independent minister). A few keys to help you develop as a minister are: • Time: Be patient, feeling comfortable and connecting with students takes time. • Participation: Going on special events and camps will help intensify and solidify your relationships with students. • Initiative: The more you invest; the more you will get out of it. Your relationships will grow deeper as you invest your time. •Describe

Statement of Faith 1) I believe in one God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16 & 17; John 14:9 & 10) 2) I believe God is the Creator of man and of all things (Genesis 1:1; Acts 17: 24-28) 3) I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son and Savior of the world. (John 3:16; Matthew 1:18; John 20:24-31) 4) I believe the Holy Spirit dwells within every Christian. (John 16:5-15) 5) I believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and the final authority for all matters of faith. (Romans 15:4; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16) 6) I believe that man, created by God, willfully sinned and, as a result, is lost and without hope apart from Jesus Christ. (Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23; 1 John 1:7) 7) I believe that salvation (the forgiveness of sins) comes by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ (his death on the cross). (Matthew 26:28; Romans 5:8-11; Ephesians 2:8-9) 8) I believe the Bible teaches that the pattern to follow to receive Jesus as Savior is to believe in Christ as God’s Son and Savior of the world, to repent of personal sin, to confess Christ as Lord, and to be immersed in baptism. (Luke 24:45-57; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:1-7; 2 Peter 3:9) 9) I believe that the church is the body and bride of Christ, founded on the day of Pentecost, consisting of all Christians everywhere. (Matthew 16:13-18; Acts 2:14-47) 10) I believe it is God’s plan for the elders to lead the local church. (Acts 20:28; 1 Timothy 3:1-7; 1 Peter 5:1-4) 11) I believe that death seals the eternal destiny of each person. The saved will inherit eternal life; the unsaved, eternal separation from God. (Romans 8:10-11; Daniel 12:2; John 6:47) By signing below, you indicate both your belief in and intent to abide by the above statements.
