The Downtown Dayton Partnership Ambassador Program is improving the safety and cleanliness of our center city, according to Todd Mobley of Mike Mobley Reporting at 334 S. Main Street. “We have been very impressed with the Ambassadors, especially with all their hard work in cleaning up litter around our block,” said Mobley. “I have also noticed that there are less people just hanging Ambassador Marie Sullivan around outside our business who have visits with Todd Mobley no legitimate reason to be here. The Ambassadors really do a great job and our employees have even stopped to thank them.” If you have questions or need assistance, contact the Ambassadors at 224-4DDP (4337).

A message from the President of the Downtown Dayton Partnership

Since 2001, the number of market-rate housing units in downtown Dayton has grown by approximately 80%. Downtown is the heart of our city’s visual arts community, with a mix of both traditional and non-traditional exhibit spaces. Our Maureen Pero, downtown is home DDP President to one of the area’s largest concentrations of dining and nightlife destinations. The Downtown Dayton Partnership is excited to present Urban Nights on Friday, May 19 so the community can experience the best of these creative spaces that our center city has to offer. Downtown has become a thriving residential neighborhood that is home to a mix of both young professionals and empty nesters. It’s a lifestyle where major events take place in your backyard, restaurants, nightclubs, galleries and cafés are just around the corner, and the city skyline is part of your décor. Approximately 2,300 people live in our downtown, and plans for additional units are underway with projects like Webster Station West. Whether you are interested in living downtown or just want to live like a downtown resident for one night, Urban Nights is the perfect way to discover the reasons why downtown Dayton isn’t your ordinary neighborhood.

Young earned his bachelor's degree in business management and his master's degree in business administration from the University of Dayton. FLORIDA INVESTMENT FIRM PURCHASES FIDELITY PLAZA Trans Global Cos., a Florida investment firm, purchased the Fidelity Plaza from Downtown Dayton LLC in April. Trans Global is planning a major renovation of the property to help attract new tenants to the building, which is located at the corner of Fifth & Main Streets. AIDS RESOURCE CENTER MOVES TO THE KUHNS BUILDING The AIDS Resource Center moved into its new home at 15 W. Fourth Street, Suite 200, earlier this year. The organization's new 11,000-square-foot suite was transformed from floor to ceiling, allowing the center to provide its clients with confidential HIV testing, private counseling, special programs, and private rooms. The move has also allowed the center to pick up an extra 2,500 square-feet, enabling its departments to be segmented by function for client confidentiality. The AIDS Resource Center has 25 employees and serves more than 500 clients. WELCOME! Downtown welcomes Title & Closing of Ohio, LLC, a mortgage title company located at 137 N. Main Street #618.

Alex Nyerges, Director and CEO of the Dayton Art Institute and a New Downtown Resident Why did you decide to move downtown? Downtown is central to everything! We can walk to work, dinner, the theater, the Art Institute, and Dragons games.

How would you describe your new neighborhood? Downtown is a fabulous neighborhood. We have the best neighbors at Performance Place, wonderful people at the front desk and Park Avenue style living right here in Dayton! The neighborhood is growing too - we have many friends who are making downtown home. It's great to walk and visit them for drinks, dinner or just a Sunday chat - an important element of every good neighborhood. What makes your new home unique? The views. We can see the river from every room in our condo plus the most wonderful view of the Dayton Art Institute. The sunsets from our balcony, living room and dining room are as good as any I've seen whether on the coast of Italy, California or Florida. What are some of your favorite things to do downtown? Our favorites are the Dayton Art Institute (of course) and Dayton Dragons baseball games. We also enjoy running along the river, walking along RiverScape over to Deeds Point or to the Market, an evening at the Schuster Center (which is in our lobby, talk about convenient!), or dinner at Thai Nine or Smokin’ Bar-B-Que. What's in store for DAI after the Princess Diana exhibit? Beginning September 24th we will premiere the most amazing collection of 17th century Dutch Old Masters - Rembrandt and the Golden Age of Dutch Art, Treasures from the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. This world-class exhibit highlights the greatest Old Master of all time, Rembrandt, on the 400th anniversary of his birth. The Dayton Art Institute is the United States premiere for this three city tour.

IN THE LOOP The Dayton Industrial Athletic Association (DIAA) is a membership organization that promotes fitness and has historically included some of the larger companies in the Dayton region. For a variety of reasons, DIAA’s board has made the decision to dissolve the organization and donate its cash assets to other community organizations. The Downtown Dayton Partnership, in conjunction with Five Rivers MetroParks, made a request for RiverScape Phase III and was awarded more than $70,000 specifically to be used toward the creation of a new ice rink. The new rink will be larger than the current one, and will be covered by an open-air pavilion. Planning for RiverScape Phase III has been underway for more than a year, and the DIAA contribution complements a federal grant that was recently awarded to the project.
