WORTH THE RIOT? TAYLOR HARRISON
If you are like me.. In the sight of drama, you're the first to wave the white flag, even if it’s not your fault. It feels like your anthem is “I’m sorry, please forgive me” If we are honest, selfishly we don‘t wish to listen to the complaining anymore we are drained and have better things to accomplish. Pilate the governor washes his hands and walks elsewhere because he does not wish to deal with the disturbance. “When Pilate saw he could not prevail at all, but rather a riot was rising, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it.” Matthew 27:24 He grants permission to the Jews to crucify Jesus although he recognized he was innocent, even his wife warned him. “Have nothing to do with that just Man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of Him.” Matthew 27:19 Then I had to ask myself, would I do the same?

A huge crowd, the bible says multitudes of Individuals yelling “Crucify!” His job is to keep the peace, carry out the rules, and this is what the crowd wanted. If we were honest, a lot of us would do the same. There are matters that are worth the riot there are moments you can’t scrub your hands over. Washing your hands does not establish your innocent. Just because you didn‘t carry out the deed, yell crucify, does not make you any less liable. There is only one man in the whole picture that was innocent, and that was Jesus. He felt YOU ARE WORTH IT. He died for you so you, you could spend eternity with him. Like Pilate, we have all been responsible of washing our hands and stepping away when we don‘t feel like dealing with it Your riot to encounter may not be a group of people yelling crusify, but it may be yourself, your employees, your household, your addition, problems in your church, your friends. We all have things we could have handled differently. There are occasions to rinse our hands and others are worth enduring the riot. The glorious news is that we have someone who can accompany us through those moments whatever your riot may be and that is the holy spirit. Ask God how to confront your riot.
