Worry is Not The Answer! Rev. Stephen Brunson Matthew 6:25 V. 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 1. Jesus was tells us (take no thought) about the needs God promises to supply. If we worry about those needs it can cause a lot of problems in our walk with him. You know worry damages your health. Worry sometimes consumes our thoughts. Worry can mess up our productivity at work or our walk with God. Worry can cause us to treat other people wrongly. Worry can lead to us not trusting in God. Sometimes we will confuse concern with worry.Worry puts us out commission, but concern causes us to react and recover the situation. The same God who created life in you can be trusted with the details of your life.
V. 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
So if God will take care of the fowls of the air which put no effort into being fed. How much more will he do for is children? Are we not better than them? Worry about things of the future will mess up todays dream. Make today happen. Trust in the Lord.
V. 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
Can we grow any in God if we are always worrying about tomorrow or next week. I would think not. Worry is more harmful than helpful. V. 28, 29, 30 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, [shall he] not much more [clothe] you, O ye of little faith?
Believe That God can supply!!! God does not ignore those who depend on him!!! V. 31`, 32 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
So let us not worry about what God has already taken care of. Worry shows a lack of faith and understanding of God. Like I said earlier it is okay to have concern about thing if you take action and turn the concern into a solution. V. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
There are real challenges God wants us to pursue, and worrying keeps us from them. So let us not worry. V. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day [is] the evil thereof.
Living one day at a time keeps us from being consumed with worry. So I will ask you today……Where? When? How? Who? Lies your trust.
