Steve Rollin 2399 Oakwood Dr. Prescott, AZ. 86305 (928)710-0457 [email protected] August 6, 2009 Gates Richards WEMT Director Wilderness Medicine Institute 284 Lincoln St. Lander, WY. 82520-2848 Dear Mr. Richards, I am very interested in joining the WMI as an instructor and hope you will consider me as a candidate for your next instructor course. I’ve lived in Arizona since 1994, and have loved the outdoors since I was a boy growing up in the Texas hill country. I took the WUMP course through a friend, Pete Walka, and loved every minute of it. I would very much like to work for your organization teaching people about medicine in less than perfect circumstances. The majority of my wilderness experience comes from the Marine Corps where I was stationed in the Philippines, Okinawa, and on ship for three months with brief operations in Australia, and Indonesia. When stateside, I participated in extended operations in the desert environment of Twenty-nine Palms, the hills of Camp Pendleton, fighting wild land fires in Washington State, and counter drug operations in Angeles National Forest. I now enjoy hiking, biking, and camping with my family and friends around Arizona. I originally became interested in medicine in the Marine Corps, where I had the opportunity to serve as a company aidman (equivalent to basic EMT) for the latter half of my four year tour. I have been in the EMS field for 12 years now with Life Line Ambulance Service, and have been teaching EMS full time for the past three years, and part time since 2004 with Yavapai College. I have also served as a tactical medic with Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office since 2004. I currently oversee all BLS programs and teach full-time in the paramedic program. Sincerely, Steve Rollin Enclosure: resume
