In Mexico, witchcraft is alive and well. On You Tube there are various credible videos of flying witches or brujas. These images show strange objects or beings taken in a distant village from the city of Monterrey in Mexico. However, the terror experienced in that location would not only be caused by this video, that same week, two policemen said they had been attacked by this strange being. The first was the police officer Gerardo Garza, who described the figure as "a person dressed in black with black feathers and talons," Also, his colleague, Leonardo Samaniego said that he would find himself face to face with this being able even distinguish between your clothing a "black hat tipped." A few have dismissed it as a balloon or military flying device. Some people believe that witches hold great power. For centuries beliefs here have simmered in a crucible of influence. Catholicism is combined with age-old ideas about the supernatural. Another city named Catemaco calls itself the witchcraft capital of Mexico. Brujas or witches have charmed their way onto signs and billboards throughout the town. Magical practices existed here before Mexico was even called Mexico and long before Catholicism arrived. Although today's witchcraft or Brujeria has been influenced by western beliefs, it's still a fundamentally ancient art. What does the word of God say about witches, sorcery, and witchcraft in general. Deuteronomy 18:9-13 When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee. Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God. Much research has shown that occult magic is often fraudulent and deceitful illusions. Many books have been written on this subject. In some instances, occult magic or divination are a manifestation of demonic powers or the result of demon possession (Acts 16:16). Of course, the power of Satan and his demons is limited compared to God's power. Those who follow the path of the magic arts are on the wrong path, one that leads away from God and not to Him. In one way or another, the end will be disaster. The evil Queen Jezebel practiced witchcraft (2 Kings 9:22) bringing catastrophe on herself and all Israel. Over and over, God denounces those who practice witchcraft and sorcery. The Bible says that anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord (Deuteronomy 18:10-12; 2 Kings 21:6; Micah 5:12; Isaiah 47:12; Ezekiel 13:18, 20; Acts 8:11-24; Leviticus 20:27; Exodus 7:11; Revelation 9:21; 22:15). God warns of the ultimate punishment. Revelation 21:8 says: But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whore mongers, and sorcerers, (those who practice magic arts) and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Those who practice witchcraft (sorcery) will not inherit the kingdom of God (Galatians 5:2021). These practices are against God and are in rebellion against Him. Regardless of the power allowed witches or brujas, God has the greater power. This was not only shown with Moses in the Old Testament (Exodus chapters 7-8) with him doing miracles that the magicians could not do, but with Apostle Paul in the New Testament. Acts 13:7-11 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God. But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him. And said, O full of all subtlety and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand. Simon Magus was baptized in the name of Jesus after confessing Christ as his Lord and Savior in Acts 8:9-13. He was formerly a magic man who cast spells for all to see. All called him a great
power but even he recognized a greater one. Jesus himself said the following about his power over Satanic forces. Mark 3:27 No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house. Matthew 12:29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. Satan was defeated at the cross of Calvary. Just as Jesus suffered, died, and rose again to pay the price and give us eternal freedom from both sin and Satan. We today have power over all the enemy. He gave this authority to his Apostles and all who follow their instructions, which are really Christ's. Matthew 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Mark 16:15-17 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. God give you great peace in this journey called life.
