Scripture Matthew 6:25-34 SLAYING THE IN YOUR

25 "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 "Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

30 "Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 "For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

DISCLAIMER # 2 Don’t worry doesn’t mean don’t be concerned. “There is a difference between carefree and careless”

Worry is Inconsistent 25 "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? It is God who created the body that we have. It is him who made us. It wouldn’t be like him to take care of us. “If God is a creator God then He is also a sustainer God.”

Worry is Irrational 26 "Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? God cares about all. He cares about the sparrows. Look at Luke 12:6 and Matthew 10:29 as we compare the worth of a sparrow. 1 for two or 2 for five. Even the fifth that is free is worth something and God cares about it so how much SLAYING THE more does God care about us. IN YOUR

Worry is Ineffective 27 "Which of you by worrying can add one cubit (18 in) to his stature? It doesn’t do any good. It can’t add anything to your height. Worry cannot add any days to your life but it can make your days unhealthy. SLAYING THE IN YOUR

Worry is Illogical 28 "So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 "and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 "Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Worry is Irreligious 31 "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 "For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. SLAYING THE IN YOUR

“For me worry is a small town I pass through, not a place to hang my hat. It is a momentary phase not a lifestyle. For many people, worry becomes so ingrained in their personalities that, once the old worries are gone, they search for new ones. They have become dependant on worry as a lens through which to view life, and they’ve forgotten any other way to live.” SLAYING THE IN YOUR

Don’t Dwell on Yesterday’s Mess One thing is true about yesterday-it’s gone. It’s complete. It’s out of our reach, and there’s nothing we can do about it. You can’t change the past, all you can do is make the present better.

Don’t Dwell on Yesterday’s Success Paul who had much success wrote: Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13-14) SLAYING THE IN YOUR

Don’t Dwell on Yesterday’s Distress We all have dealt with problems and heartaches in the past. The best thing to do is let them go. Every extra day of dwelling on the sorrows of the past is a day of joy lost-a day of not seeing the wonderful things God wants us to see. SLAYING THE IN YOUR
