Wide Key-Hole Scarf by Nichole Medley © 2008 Materials: Size 10 needles. 2 Stitch holders. Gage: Approximately 5 stitches per inch. Does not need to be exact. Finished project measures about 8.5 inches wide by 34 inches long. Cast on 35. Row 1 – 5: Moss stitch (MS). Row 6: MS first 5 stitches, K25, MS last 5. Row 7: MS first 5 stitches, P25, MS last 5. Repeat rows 6 and 7 for approx. 25.5 inches. Next: MS 5, knit 14. Bind off last stitch (13th stitch is brought over the 14th), K11, MS5. MS5, P12. Put remaining 17 stitches on a holder. (These 17 are after the bound off stitch.) Work the 17 stitches on your needles for 16 rows in the established pattern, place on a second holder. Break yarn and leave a tail for weaving in. Work stitches that were on the first holder for 16 rows. Next row: MS 5, K12, inc1, knit across the 17 stitches on the second holder, MS last 5. Repeat rows 6 and 7 for approx. 3.5 inches. Last 5 rows, MS. Bind off, weave in loose ends.
